View on GoogleToday, February 18, I visited West Lincoln Memorial Hospital with my baby due to flu symptoms, bronchial congestion, and an episode of shortness of breath. As a parent, this was a very stressful situation because we were seeking urgent and professional medical care for a respiratory condition in an infant. During the assessment, I was extremely concerned to see that the attending physician searched on Google how to treat a flu in a child before providing guidance. This created a serious lack of confidence in the quality of care being delivered. In a hospital setting, especially when dealing with a baby and respiratory symptoms, parents expect the physician to rely on medical training, clinical protocols, and professional experience — not a public internet search. This situation made us feel unsafe and unsure about the medical decisions being made. We are grateful for the existence of the hospital and the effort of the healthcare staff; however, this experience fell far below the expected standard of care and professionalism. I strongly recommend that the hospital review this situation to ensure that patients — particularly infants and children — receive care that reflects proper medical knowledge, preparedness, and confidence.
View on GoogleI can’t say enough good things about this hospital! If I’m honest, I was always avoided coming here because of the rating and the reviews, and honestly, I couldn’t be more wrong. I had to go there very unexpectedly this past Saturday. They got me in quickly and the triage nurse Serena was beyond nice. Not just with me but everyone. I even saw how she was treating an elderly lady who wasn’t that responsive. Serena was so kind and so patient with her. If I saw someone take that type of care of my grandmother, I would’ve been very happy and proud. It was spectacular. Serena even told me if I needed any further help to please come and get her immediately. I felt very taken care of. As I mentioned, I went there unexpectedly, and because of that, I had my dog in the car. When I realized that I was gonna be there for most of the evening for some follow up testing I asked if I could just step out just check on him. They asked me if he was well trained, to which I confirmed he is, and the lead nurse there, I believe her name was Natalie said I could bring him in. My little dog just laid there in the floor next to me and they even brought him water. I mean what a great staff!! Everyone was nice, even the replacement nurses (I was there getting looked after for a while). The doctor was great, and thorough. Even gave me some follow up appointments there. And the nurses at the end of the evening making sure I got everything I needed and all the info were great. I didn’t get everyone’s names at the end of the night but they were fantastic! This was this past Saturday night. One was Rebecca and I never got the other two names but they were so nice!!
View on GoogleThe new hospitial looks good from the outside, but the emergency department leaves a lot to be fixed. My wife was taken in by ambulance Friday. The staff that were working were very nice, but, the emergency department is VERY UNDERSTAFFED. The entrance to the hospital, at the moment, leaves you walking quite a distance before you can even get in a door, let alone find your way to the emergency department. It took nearly 5 hours before they even drew a blood sample, and the department was not as busy as it was at the old WLMH emergency. Either Hamilton Health Sciences needs to up its staffing levels, as the population of our region expands the medical needs will increase.
View on GoogleThe obstetrics and gynecology team really came through in the delivery of my little girl. Every single team member we encountered was supportive, helpful, and kind. They ensured every need was attended to and made sure we fully understood the implications of each and every decision. I want to call out the following people specifically for their absolutely amazing work: 1. Dr Guarna 2. Denise 3. Pilar 4. Rachel 5. Dr Mosher 6. Dr Katherine 7. Lauren 8. Courtney 9. Margarita 10. Nicole If I forgot your name im very sorry but know that we are so grateful for every single person in the department that checked in, walked into our room, or answered our many questions. Our baby girl is happy, healthy, and home because of the hard work, dedication, and commitment of each and every person above and beyond.
