Cozy establishment with well thoughtful table placements that allow for good conversations. The option to have your jackets hung up definitely added a personal experience. Food and drinks were on point - fresh and tasty. Our server was friendly, patient, low key and attentive. You definitely feel welcome and want to come back when visiting St Catherines again. My only thought is to have one more solid vegetarian menu to choose from, like tofu burger or something.

I’ll start out by saying that I emailed the restaurant a week or so, before posting this review, with no response. My husband and I had been to the Wellington Court for our anniversary a couple years ago, and everything was amazing. The restaurant was pretty empty that night, so we left a very positive review on google, so that more people could know about and go to your fine establishment. Because of this great experience, we made a reservation for NYE with friends of ours, eager to show them this hidden gem in St. Catharines. I didn’t see any special menu options online, so I assumed that the meal was off the menu. After we were seated, we were informed that for NYE they had a set price fixe menu for $90 per person. It included a starter, a main and dessert. A bit pricey, but it was NYE, so we knew that everything would be a bit more expensive. The price fixe menu looked good, so we decided to stay. Our starters were not terrible. We had the gnocchi, Caesar salad, and beef tartar, which were standard. Nothing outstanding about any of them. Kind of bland tasting. For the mains, we had the confit duck, the mushroom risotto, the Australian wagu beef and the veal scallopini. The veal scalliponi was probably the best meal out of the four choices. It was not the best I’ve ever had, but not the worst, either. Again, it was ‘standard’, nothing that blew me away. It was more like a meal from East Side Mario’s, but without much taste. The mushroom risotto dish was very blah. We expected it to be rich, creamy, and earthy, however, the mushrooms were undercooked and the risotto was not very creamy. The confit duck was horribly dry and tasted as if it were pre-cooked, the day before and then warmed up. What should have been a rich, savory, silky, melt in your mouth and deeply flavourful duck dish, ended up being small, extremely dry and flavourless. The Australian wagu was absolutely horrible, and the worst of all the meals. It was tough and extremely sinewy and grisly. It could hardly be cut through it with a steak knife. Not at all like it should taste. It should have been rich, buttery, deeply beefy with a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The expected “marbling” consisted of scant amounts of meat marbled with gristle. We had to ask for salt, in hopes of making the meals taste better, as there was no salt on the table, but unfortunately, adding a bit of salt didn’t help. After the main course was finished, we were presented with a platter of “desserts”. It was divided into 4 sections. Each section included 1 piece of cheese, 1 macaroon, 1 fig 1 very small cube of mango cake. None of the dessert items had much taste. It seemed as if it were pulled from a generic box that you might find at a dollar store. For drinks, in total, we had 2 cocktails, 1 prosecco, 1 bottle of red wine (not an expensive one) and 2 beers., which were all fine. By the end of the meal/evening, we all felt very unfulfilled. Then the bill came, which totalled almost $700! The price was terribly exorbitant, even after a good meal. Unfortunately, the quality of our meals was so very poor. I understand that the restaurant was very busy, maybe overwhelming, but the amount of diners would have/should have been known and prepared for, due to the amount of reservations taken for the night. And even though it was busy, that shouldn’t have made a difference in the quality of our meals. The service was so/so. She wasn’t overly friendly and we had to call her over a couple of times for service. It was just meh. I’m not too sure we’ll be back, unfortunately.

Tucked away off the main drag in St. Catharines, Wellington Court is a cozy and inviting restaurant that truly delivers with exceptional food and attentive service. We had the pleasure of dining here yesterday for a birthday celebration, and it did not disappoint. Our dinner began at 5 pm, as we had a clear time limit to make it to Cirque du Soleil at the Meridian Centre. The staff was not only attentive but also perfectly balanced in their approach—ensuring we never felt rushed, yet keeping everything on track so we made it to the show with time to spare. The standout dishes for me were the wild mushroom soup, rich and full of flavor, and the steak my daughter ordered, which was grilled and seasoned to perfection. Our table also enjoyed two featured dishes: lasagna and lamb chops, both of which were beautifully executed. To end our meal on a sweet note, we ordered the carrot cake and a delightful pudding—every plate was wiped clean. Wellington Court exceeded our expectations, making the evening truly special. We will definitely be back!

What an absolutely incredible gem tucked away in the heart of the city downtown. The look as you enter is warm and the feel is cozy yet elegant. The service was incredible and the owner went above and beyond to make this post Valentines day dinner with my wife incredibly special. The food was delicious and the presentation was like art. You must try the beef tartar as an appetizer for sure as it will ruin you in the most amazing ways. The wine selection could have used a couple more choices but the owner made it special regardless. The main courses of lamb shank and short rib were nothing short of brilliant and despite being a higher range restaurant, the portion size was actually not bad at all. Now the desert of dark chocolate cheesecake with a brown butter cream cheese was so insanely delicious I can clearly say I have not eaten its equal. The bill was what you would expect for a place of this calibre and did not disappoint in any way. My wife and I had a memory here that we shall cherish for many years and so thank you for this wonderful experience Wellington Court.

Had a great lunch today; it was our first visit and will not be our last! We had likely the best mushroom soup ever, pate, smash burger and steak. Though we didn't have anything from the bar, there are creative seasonal cocktails I'd like to try next time. The wine list is quite good with mostly local offerings which I love to see in our wine country area. Food was cooked perfectly and presented nicely. Someone cane in to pick up their takeout order, so that's a great option for some. Service was very friendly, sweet and we felt looked after. 👌👏
