Have lived in Port over 10yrs and had never gone to Walters. Met friends for a show at the Lighthouse theater and were excited that they had made reservations there. Parking was easy and the restaurant was neat, tidy and atmosphere welcoming. As mentioned we had reservations and were sat quickly. We ordered drinks that came quickly, food that was delivered in a timely manner (and looked somewhat appealing) but honestly very underwhelming when it came to actual flavor. The lamb shank special was small and dryish on the outside, the 3 orders of broasted chicken were also dry and my wifes veal parm was a mystery! Texture and flavor was more like tenderized beef than veal and the tomato sauce did nothing to help. We should have complained, especially our friend who ordered all white meat for her chicken (and paid extra) then got 2 pieces of dark instead, but after they dropped the food we didn't see the waitress again until I chased her down to pay. All in all a disappointing experience... we wont go back.

View on GoogleThis place used to be a family favourite of ours, but lately, the quality has just gone way down. We started with a bruschetta bread appetizer. Somehow, the toast was soggy yet the feta was burnt. Then, we had a broasted chicken meal, a chicken souvlaki dinner, and a hot turkey sandwich. The broasted chicken and hot turkey both came with brown gravy, which was an odd flavour combination. The turkey itself and the broasted chicken were both juicy and well cooked though. The mashed potatoes were very bland as well - no butter or salt at all - and our side of “fresh” vegetables, turned out to be frozen peas. The chicken souvlaki dinner had great sides, but the chicken was slightly undercooked. The food had its problems, but was mostly salvageable. The service however, was not. It took quite a while to get a table, then even longer to get asked for drinks. Once our food was delivered, we didn’t see the server again for a while. Overall just very slow service. Unfortunately, probably won’t be back here.
View on GoogleThis was our first visit. Charming atmosphere, loved the rough brick walls, wooden floors, wooden bar, big street facing windows and fabric checkered tablecloths Service was great when it was great... We were seated right away, drink orders taken, food order taken. Food arrived in 20 minutes and then we didn't see our waitress for almost an hour. We ended up staying over an hour and a half for lunch which was longer than we would have preferred. I'm not sure where our waitress disappeared to for so long, (the restaurant was not busy.) It would have been nice had she checked in with us after our receiving food. Had we seen our waitress again, we would have ordered some beer to go with our meal. I liked that the menu listed all the beers available, with their prices and it was a good selection. Lamb burger was small-ish in size but perfectly cooked (tender but with a lovely crisp edge), Greek salad was nice. Two-piece fish and chips was filling, (a lot of batter coating) and the oil and vinegar coleslaw was balanced. It's a great location, you can maybe find parking around the side or back about a block away. Big menu with lots of choices, and two separate dining room areas which was nice because that would probably cut down on noise if it was busy.
View on GoogleThe Prime Rib was beyond excellence. Absolutely the best I've had in a long memory from a restaurant. 16 Oz. of sheer culinary excellence. Brenda, our server, was great. It was cooked rare exactly the way I like it. The same goes for my partner. She loved her medium-rare as well. Then, to top it off, I had an Apple Dumpling with ample scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was delisious. Also, the view to the Welland Canal added to the experience, and we saw a big cargo ship pass by. A Viking ship was parked further up the canal. Just amazing experience. It's now at the top of our most preferred go-to.
