The place is very well kept. The staff are the best I've been to. Care for my sister has been excellent. The senior staff have lots of pride in there work. They have been there for so long for a reason. I hope the new place can be as good for the patients and family. You better take care of your senior staff the the new ones can learn. Best of luck

My mother was a resident of Valley Park Lodge. The care was above and beyond what was expected. They treated her with compassion and really cared about her and her feelings and concerns. The staff there are incredible. The facility was always clean and the food was fabulous. I would highly trust Valley Park Lodge with the care of your loved one.

My mother "lived" at Valley Park Lodge for a few short months before she passed from covid. She was sent here from gngh hospital, due to her size we had to look for a suitable home and this one was the one she chose. She did have breathing/respiratory issues, her room mate caught Covid, they didn't isolate my mother, and she died as a result. I should have moved her to a different home after the first few complaints. She would call me upset, a few psws would make fun of her, call her names. Pretty much fat shaming. On one occasion I know that they would be "talked to," and were made to apologize. She did have some behavioural issues, so I would get daily/weekly calls concerning that QUOTE:"they can't handle her." My mom was mostly miserable there, because of this. She did enjoy the arts, crafts, music, nail polish, hair times though. They can't handle mental illness, there is a shortage of psychiatrists for seniors, there is no help. Weekly COVID outbreaks made it hard to visit. If you weren't there to visit everyday, certain staff made you feel like you abandoned your family. I talked to my mother Every. Single. Day on the phone/Facebook calling. Yes, everyone has a life, everyone gets busy, it is impossible to visit every day, especially with all of the outbreaks and lockdowns, just within the short months she was there. She did rave about a couple of nurses that treated her amazingly. Some days she would call me so happy that they would talk to her, and make her comfortable. Other times the calls were crying that psws/nurses were rude. My experience is that some of the staff seemed friendly/inviting. There is one in particular I didn't care for, as we were there collecting my mother's things, she could clearly see I was upset and still made me feel like Garbage. I didn't even request to speak with her, I asked to speak with the main doctor, and there she was to add her two cents, which wasn't wanted or needed. If your family member has any sort of behavioural issue/mental health, if they're obese in any way, please avoid this place. I wish I would have known. I'm not sure of other resident's experiences, but this was ours.
