I used Turkstra Lumber's website to purchase dowels for a project. The website was very easy to use, and upon check out I was directed to a few stores that would have my order in stock. Ridgeway was the closest option to me so I chose them and I had a notification that my order was fulfilled within an hour, even though the website only guaranteed within 24 hours. When I went to pick up my order, the dowels looked too small. We realized it was a computer error, as I had ordered 1" diameter, but the SKU number read 1/2". The staff at the Ridgeway store were very flexible, and honored the order from my end which documented the 1" dowel without a fight at all. They (I believed I worked mostly with Brian?) worked very hard to fulfill my order by clearing out their 1" dowels of various lengths to ensure I had enough linear feet to fulfill my project, while keeping to my budget. I was very relieved to not have been given the run-around. It was well worth the hour drive.
View on GoogleGreat customer service. Knowledgeable staff. Not a huge store, has almost everything I needed.
View on GoogleWe rebuilt our deck last week and they were more than helpful every step of the way I’m glad I decided to shop local !
View on GoogleFriendly service not available here. I drop in at Ridgeway Turkstra Lumber when I need a few supplies quickly. I don't know why I do because every single time I do, I leave frustrated by the lack of friendly customer service. It's not a one time experience, but many over the years. It's normal to find at least 3 or 4 guys in the cash desk area, but nobody offers help. This last time I identified a discrepancy in the price I was charged for an item that was not updated since 2019 (so the cash guy told me). He refunded me the difference which was over $3. As I left the store, I noticed another item that I purchased was higher than what the shelf price tag was. I said to the guy behind the cash desk that this particular item was also wrong. Rather than inviting me back for a refund for the difference he said "ok we will fix it". Obviously his interest in my purchase was not top of mind. I figured I'd be better just to leave and not to return to this particular store. This experience, although different from my past experiences, was definitely another example that these guys prefer to wait for customers who know exactly what they want to approach the cash desk, request what they need, and cash them out. It's time to retire guys! Get some fresh blood in there and show some service to your customers. Go to Rona on HWY 3 or Ace Hardware on Dominion. You'll not get frustrated as they "carry" customer service skills.
View on GoogleJust to start off I have never written a poor review about a company before because I believe in everyone has a bad day once in a while and everyone makes mistakes but I can’t take this any longer. I shop here multiple times a week and have spend 10’s if thousands of dollars here as I am a local who does many renovations. Every time I come in here it’s an awful experience. To be specific Brian is the most miserable person I have ever met and he will put in the absolute least effort in to help you. I personally watched a customer come into the store and ask Brian where something was and he word for word said “not sure I don’t know” (without even looking up to the customer) then I personally showed the customer to exactly where the product was (as Brian stood there saying and doing nothing) I don’t like to use personal names but this needed to be said.... this is just one of the many many poor customer service experiences I have had here.
