The Trap

This was our second time going to the Trap. Both times the food was great. First time we waited an hour for our food. Second time 50 minutes. First time place was crowded. Second time it was not. Other people who arrived after us and who ordered the daily - special chicken wings -were served their food before us. We did ask the server about the wait time and the response was that the fryer got backed up by 30 minutes. It was my order of chicken fingers that was the problem. So as good as the food was it was not worth the frustrating wait time. We won’t go back.

The food has been very good the last few many times we have gone. We have had numerous burgers (which are the best around, the 40 creek burger is dynamite), fries, wings, potato skins, salads, quesadillas, chicken caesar wrap, appetizers, etc.

Had lunch here the other day. Waitress was kind and efficient. Food was good, large portions. Restaurant was a bit dated but it kind of added some charm. Not pretentious just decent food for a nice lunch or dinner.

It was pretty terrible. I hadn't been in like 10 years and remembered it being good. Prices are high, service was lacking, and the quality was terrible too. We won't be back. This part is being added in response to the owners response: We would have brought our concerns to managements attention if it seemed management existed. There were 2 servers, neither of which welcomed us when we entered. After sitting, my husband went to the bar to ask for menus. Our order was simple, yet wrong. My husband went back up to the bar to let the server know, as she didn't once come to our table to check on us. We were there for close to an hour, and my husbands water glass sat empty for 40 minutes of that. He ended up sharing mine when we realized we weren't going to get service. There were only 3 other tables there while we were. Also, we eat out quite often. Yes, prices have gone up everywhere. But your prices are not aligned with the quality OR the serving size. You can't fill the plate with fries and call it a good portion- especially when dry fries wasn't what I ordered to begin with. The steak sub I ordered, for $19.50, was pitiful. The bun was clearly stale under all that toasting, and there was hardly any steak to speak of. As for those fries- there were at least 5 that were burnt black- stuck in the fryer for multiple cooks. It was disgusting. The chicken wrap my husband got was similarly disappointing. Not above average in size (although also $19.50), but filled with lettuce- not chicken or cheese. The poutine was definitely made with canned gravy, and it was like a soup- very generous with that gravy, to a fault! I consider myself to be fair with reviews, and since I had nothing nice to say, I tried to keep it short. I never said or acted like the sky was falling, I just let people know my experience so they're prepared before trying your establishment. I guess maybe business is suffering since all the competition was built around you, but after reading your response, I definitely stand firm with my review. Not only will we not eat there, or recommend it, I will go out of my way to warn others about it. I actually get the feeling you were the one cooking, and the one we would've spoke to if we complained. I'm so happy we didn't, because you seem terrible to deal with in person. We tried the Trap today after hearing good things and seeing some tempting pictures. Firstly we were unable to order over the phone as they apparently took the phones off the hook. So we went in to order and were willing to wait around. The fries looked great, but tasted dense and cold when we got them, almost as if they were sitting under a heat lamp for a while. The onion rings were great. The pizza, we had high hopes for but we were quickly let down. The small kids pizza were tasteless and way too under cooked. The large pizza wasn’t much better, the crust was dense and thick, very heavy and not very flavourful. The toppings were a good amount, but similar to the small pizza, very undercooked. The sauce was ok and seasoned pretty good. Overall, especially after the wait, very disappointing experience.
