The RAFT

Called in tears yesterday explaining my situation. I was told they CANT offer me shelter at this time after telling me they have open beds. 211 said this would be the only shelter for my age bracket. Now I have a broken knuckle and fractured the others and in a cast. I would rather sleep on a bench then reach out here CALLING IN TEARS with my OW worker. Horrible place inside anyways. Stayed last year, the just took my stuff and then told me to sit in a room for 8 hours or come back before 10. Staff have no sympathy for anyone here. 0/10 Josh and Alana? I think is her name are who I spoke to. Weren’t very polite either. I get it’s a shelter but show some sympathy dude

It's a great organization, helping young men and women who don't have a place of their own or are leaving an abusive home; they're helped with food, clothing and shelter and there are workshops for them to access work, education and job searching skills!

Sadly enough I enjoy my stays at the raft more than my living situations lmao. And SuRpRiSiNgLy if you just don’t be an asshole to anybody and aren’t delusional, all staff members like you and treat you with respect. Some even joke around and are genuinely fun. When on a previous visit, my roommate was complaining about staff doing this and that to him, but I never had ANY of the same issues💀

They’re great people other than the discrimination against trans people, the lack of food options and the inexperienced staff that lets the kids blast music outside at 4 AM that other kids can hear from their rooms when trying to sleep. Come here if you REALLY need it. This place sucks.

They keep contacting our whole family who clearly don’t mess with a person for a reason. Keep coming to my house and forcing interactions without knowing the whole story its unprofessional and disgusting,.. have you ever been falsely accused of abuse on a child you gave everything to? No the girl is sick get her some help. Away from us. She made her choice and we did we. Good byeeeeee
