The Old Firehall Restaurant

We landed here on a tuesday nite and ended up having the restaurant to ourselves. We were celebrating the arrival of my sister from the Yukon for a much needed sibling reunion. We were staying on Niagara on Lake and although a bit of a drive, this place is well worth that drive. Irina( so sorry as I am sure i misspelled it) was the most wonderful waitress. She had suggestions for the menu, was attentive and just so sweet. We all ordered different items from the menu( there were 5 of us) and the chef nailed all items. We left full ( with some leftovers) and as we call them, many ' Happy moments!" It is a wonderful intimate place that delivers on all fronts! Perfect for our family reunion.

It's a small place with anice, mediterranean-style - pretty old-fashioned, - design. Escargots I never tried escargots with cheese and onion (butter and garlic are usually suspects, so no questions there). The taste - and in lesser expend flavor - changed, but overall it's a pretty mediocre appetizer. Grilled Calamari I won't say this was the worst calamari I ate in last few years, but it was one of them with rubber-like texture. Chicken Mushroom Melt It was ok with nice flavor of mozzarella and mushrooms, however, I cannot say that it was big and filling enough. Conclusion: I cannot recommend the restaurant.

This has been a favorite of my husband and mine for years! The food is absolutely amazing and always very fresh. I always get the saganaki and it never disappoints. I prefer a smaller steak so I got their smaller version with the peppercorn demi that they usually use on the larger entree. It's amazing! Server was very professional and lovely. It is a smaller restaurant so if you have a larger group I'd call ahead to check if they can accommodate. Never disappoints, a perfect date night spot!

I came here for lunch with my family. The atmosphere was pretty great, its nice and classic style. Our server was helpful and friendly. We first got the escargot, I loved it. It was nice and buttery and tasted amazing when combined with their toast. Though, the edge of the bread was a bit hard. Next we got the steak with fries. The caramelized onions on the steak were so flavourful and amazing. The fries were average, a bit plain and the steak was well cooked. However, for the price, the steak was so small. Pasta that we got was really flavourless and plain. We had to add a lot of salt and pepper. If it had more flavour, it would’ve been great. Lastly, we got the bruschetta feta which was ok. Overall, a good restaurant to go to.

Came here for dinner and the food was great as all their ingredients tasted super fresh. Grilled calamari was juicy and tender as was the chicken. Only thing taking away from the chicken was the veggies being a bit too oily. The best dish was the seafood pasta. This dish had plenty of seafood including squid, clam, muscle and shrimp. Also the red sauce had great depth and texture which mixed well with the al dente pasta. Would love to try the other pasta dishes.
