View on GoogleMy comment is in response to Brenda’s comment. As a Christian, I agree that speaking about acting on violence is a sin. And as a Woman myself, who has a strong bond with Christ, It’s harmful to assume that Mary didn’t have good defensive reasoning for her comment. I think it’s fair to assume that very rarely, would a civilized member of society, in this case a member of a well know community church would say such remarks without being provoked. I work with our vulnerable community members. From homeless youth and adults, to substance abuse and counselling. And this is not judgemental, this is a statement based on facts. When under the influence an individual may become incoherent, impulsive, agitated.. thus resulting in sporadic violent outbursts. It happens on our streets of St.Catharines and it happens daily. As an elderly woman who is apart of the thrift store staff.. Perhaps think of going to open the store in the early morning hours to several unknown individuals (strangers) who are partaking in drug use and acting with hostility. It’s a sad state of affairs when we see this happen. Not every individual living on the street are tarnished souls. Some are good people, lost souls, who have lost themselves, who keep to themselves. But the odd time there are some who need God to guide their way back. We can only pray that those people are blessed with gods grace. Alone, you may feel scared, anxious, maybe she had a close encounter and that is why she made that comment. Reference the many scripture's as to why we are imperfect beings. Be - better - do better. The bible also teaches us about not using our words for negative or gossip. Such things lead to rumours, and reputations being ruined.
View on GoogleToday was my first visit to St. Vincent De Paul. First I dropped off donations and then returned to purchase some items. The staff are wonderful, and the store is well organized. I look forward to donating and shopping again.
View on GoogleI'm homeless and I went and got a voucher from start me up. I went to get a blanket and I couldn't even get a used blanket for $15. They said 25 firm and I cannot put it on my voucher. You know how many homeless people go in there and are looking for a blanket or clothing and they can't even get a outfit with $15. This is the most expensive Christian thrift shop I have ever been to .. how can they put FIRM when they got it donated.
