Sobeys Grimsby

I have always enjoyed shopping at the Sobeys in Grimsby. The staff are generally wonderful, I can usually find what I need, and the recent renovations look great. However, I was very disappointed by an interaction I witnessed this morning. Isaac, who I understand is the store manager, was addressing a young employee on the sales floor regarding his attire and a missing name tag. Having previously worked in retail management for many years, I found this approach inappropriate and disrespectful. Conversations of this nature should be handled privately, not in front of customers and other staff. No one knows what circumstances this employee may have been dealing with that morning. What matters is that he showed up to work and did not deserve to be corrected publicly in a way that could be perceived as belittling or embarrassing. Management should lead by example. The sales floor is not the place for private or corrective discussions, and I hope this is addressed moving forward Issac.

Yesterday we bought cake( birthday comes only once in whole year )for my daughters 10th birthday cake was too hard from inside like it's 4 5 days old ..if they told us that the cake is not fresh definitely we never buy ...or may be buy another one she and my other kids didn't eat that cake ...it's still in fridge getting more harder 😭😭😥 I called them regarding that cake they were transferring me to bakery then customer service and finally hang up

The bakery here is above and beyond. They genuinely have great products and staff. I am not sure of the names of the individuals in the bakery staff, though I wish I could properly recognize them. In the process of ordering a custom cake, every person I interacted with in the bakery was amazing at each step. The cake came out so well and was delicious. I would definitely recommend getting custom cakes from here!

I always have a good experience at this particular store. The staff are so pleasant and kind. Today I'd like to give a shout out to Daphne, at the self check out, for her patience and assistance. I never lack for help when I need it, from all staff. Kudos to the managers. You must be doing something right.

I walked in there for the first time the other day and WOW. They renovated, and it is so nice looking and very clean! They have such fresh produce and so much variety.
