Posting under our "foodie" handle TravelingbyCarr GandR...Over 32 years of traveling, through 48 states & 9 provinces, we've always tried to stop into Amvets, VFWs & Legions, on both sides of the border. Housed in a big, old, former school, 479 has a lot of very interesting & informative artifacts/memorabilia on display which, according to Veterans Service Officer Tom Metcalf, is just a small bit of the cornucopia of stored items.While Tom and "bar wench" Sandra gave us a tour, we had the privilege of meeting a charming, young lady, Sylvia. 479 also has many social events so, when visiting the NF area, take time to stop by. Have a cold one, wander around and, like us, remember those, who answered the call to defend freedom...

I had a family reunion here of 31 people on the first floor. I was able to set up our space the day before with the staff being very friendly to deal with and supportive in accommodating special requests. Having the bar nearby was very nice, the hall and washrooms were clean and easily accessible by elevator as it was a Sunday afternoon. We set up our own buffet lunch and had plenty of space to both enjoy are meal, chat, explore the exhibits and play some cards with everyone having a great time. As I had an open bar, after paying for the hall rental, bartender and final bar tab, the total cost was so surprisingly reasonable. I will certainly have my next event here as well.

In town for the weekend and had their Friday night Fish Fry. Best meal ever. Batter was light and fish was fresh. Great price. As non locals, still felt welcomed and everyone was friendly.

Great facilities ,great people and YES the elevator IS working!! Im proud to be an Ordinary member of this Branch . It is very community minded with a number of local groups using its facilities.

Awesome Fish and Chips. Wonderful place will be hosting my Son's Stag and Doe and Wedding April 29th 2023. Lovely
