This will be a long written review, which I have never done in any previous reviews. My wife and I dined on Oct 18 celebrating our 22nd anniversary. No gifts this year but decided to go all out for our dinner as our gift to each other. I was in charge of finding somewhere. I’ve followed reviews over the last few months and decided Root and Bone is the place. Both my wife and I have a very open minded pallet and we owned our own restaurant. So we have some street credit 😉 Online Reservation- easy to book and received text before hand (which I had to hide from the wife ) Atmosphere - it is a smaller venue but even during a busy Saturday night did not feel cramped up. Everything was spotless clean and I mean clean. It’s the first thing I noticed. Food- this was the absolute star. I spoke to someone and said it was the first time I felt like I wasn’t going out for dinner but having an actual experience with food. I cannot stress the level of skills required to pull off mine and my wife’s meal. Honestly this is Michelin rated food. From pork belly to lamb loin and everything else we ate was made with love and a level of cooking that will have me talking about this experience for years. Service- Emilia our guide to the evening of joyous proportion was awesome. Great smile and gave us a few pointers as this was our first experience. By the way. Say yes to her espresso martini. In my wife’s words. “Oh my god where has this been all my life “ yep that good. Also the mise en place, dishwashers (every plate, utensil and glass was spotless) and everyone that made the dining experience so memorable deserves a shout out. Price - We did a fixed menu. Lots to choose from. I can’t stress enough that you are not going out to dinner here. You are having a culinary experience like no other. So close your eyes to the bill and enjoy! Thanks again Root and Bone. Much ❤️

Beautiful birthday dinner - thanks to the staff and the excellent food... The crispy butternut squash, I could have eaten all night! The candle on the creme brulee was a nice touch.

We visited Root and Bone for the first time on our anniversary, and it turned out to be a great experience. The restaurant has a calm, intimate atmosphere; quiet enough to talk comfortably while still feeling lively. Their four-course menu is about $118, with small surcharges for certain options, and it’s absolutely worth it. You choose your courses from the start, and while they offer à la carte, most people go with the full menu. They also have seating right by the chef’s station, which looks like a fun experience for next time. The food was excellent across the board. I had the beef tenderloin special, and my wife ordered the beef Wellington. Both were outstanding. She also had the octopus, which is notoriously hard to get right, but they nailed it. It was charred beautifully, not rubbery, and full of flavour. They have bottle-recorking free of charge. Our server, Kate, was fantastic from start to finish, and the chef personally presented our main course, which was a nice touch. There was a small hiccup, out of their control, but it was handled quickly and professionally. Overall, the night was memorable, the kitchen is impressive, and the whole place has a warm, welcoming feel. We’ll definitely go back.

We dined here last night (November 8th) for my birthday. My husband and I are both foodies and have worked in the industry for years. We usually forgo gifts and take each other out for a fantastic meal for special occasions. Root and Bone was recommended by a fellow chef friend of mine. I had my entire meal planned before we sat down 😆. To start we had the tartar and scallops. Both were delicious the tartar had the perfect seasoning, but if I’m being honest we were both surprised at the portion size of the scallop (1). Honestly though by the end of four courses I’m glad the size was what it was! Next course I got the soup, roasted butternut. It was different from other squash soups I’ve had at similar places, it was very broth forward, I really enjoyed chef Rays take. My husband got the octopus, which I’m not usually a fan of, it was excellent…it was very tender and flavourful, I recommend trying it even if octopus is out of your comfort zone. Next, I got the wagu short rib Wellington, I have to say this dish will stick in my archives of one of the best I’ve had. It was sooo tender and the sauces paired with it really pushed it over the top. My husband got the striploin, he said the fondant potato was perfectly cooked and was probably the best potato dish he’s ever had, he ate it all before I could even sample it! For dessert I got the chocolate tart. It was also delicious, at this point I was so full I could barely finish it. Very creamy and light, just what I needed after such a fabulous meal. Husband got the cheese board and it came with honey comb which I always appreciate. Our server was lovely and attentive. The restaurant is small and cozy with an open kitchen. I recommend trying this beautiful restaurant!

My husband took me to the restaurant last night for my birthday. I can say hands down the best food I ate in a restaurant. Our Server Amelia was amazing, And Katie made me a delicious cocktail! I described what I was looking for and I got it. The food was delicious as well. My husband had the pumpkin cheese cake. It was really good. Thank you for such a beautiful night! I cannot wait to go back .
