PVS

We appreciate having a Locate service that is free and will protect citizens from any accidental damage. Our concern is with seeing the PVS CAR STATIONED IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE WITH THE DRIVER SITTING INSIDE AND WAITING FOR QUITE A WHILE, BUT NEVER COMING ON OUR PROPERTY AT ALL. It seems to us that there is a problem here. Our Locate was requested by the fence contractor. If it is not needed to come in person to do a Locate, and it's just 'paper work', why not send it directly to the proper recipient directly ? This is wasted taxpayer money. The reviews we read tell us some people have been waiting a long time for a Locate, no wonder.

Listen you people! PVS contractors does the utility locates for the infrastructure and utility companies in your area! When they paint your lawn or put flags in the lawn, they put them on the CITY easement! That’s not actually your property! It’s the road allowance and if you have natural gas going to your property then understand that the gas company has an easement where that gas line runs ! Same as cable, water and sewer! If you don’t like the paint or flags, get a land survey and see for yourself and maybe move and go off grid! The infrastructure is the utility/cities responsibility to maintain and protect! I don’t care if you have an immaculately cared for lawn or driveway! If it’s in my easement and I have to dig it up safely to do a repair, I will not hesitate to call PVS to locate the infrastructure for me properly and to mark it out! I don’t want people to die or be injured because I hit a 600 volt underground hydro line or I hit a gas line and blow a house up! Use your head people! look at all the digging happening in your area and realize that, that is happening everywhere and safety is paramount! Not your lawn !

PVS came to my property, parked across the street from my house. I had no idea what they were doing or what PVS even did as a business. I saw their vehicle with the decal across the street from my house when I left to go to the convenience store. I made eye contact with the man driving the PVS vehicle, and he made no effort to communicate with me, so I presumed they were doing work on two new builds beside my house. I came back within 10 min, the driver and I again made eye contact, but he remained in their vehicle. It was not until a couple of hours later (as I was not "monitoring" my front lawn), that I saw spray paint and little "flags" they had put on my property. I looked PVS up on Google and found out they do locates. Not on my request or permission, but presumably for the new builds next door to me. Frankly, if the technician had come out and said "we are doing locates and need to spray paint your lawn and put up little flags" I would have said "ok", but what gives you the right to come onto my property spray paint it, put up your little flags, on MY property without even having the courtesy of telling me? Your technician saw me both come and go - he knew I was home. Why not have the courtesy of telling the property owner this was going to be done on my property? Outrageous.

PVS is probably the most incompetent company! They should lose their contract with Enbridge and Hamilton water! I didn’t have water in my home and with a little one. Called in time as per locates guidelines. Every other company completed their locates within a day, these lot took ages. I had to try to speak with a supervisor and I was told James was the supervisor. They general lack professionalism and work ethic. I will also be letting the other organisations know they need to give this contract to a different company! As well as Ontario one call!

A TERRIBLE experience dealing with this company. We requested a locate through Ontario 1 and this is the company that was sent. We needed to located the gas and water lines on the front of a private home before moving a large tree. They advised us it would be within 5 days so we arranged the contractor for days 7.....just "in case" ! On that day we had the contractor arrive to commence the work but there was no indication anyone had been to locate the lines. A call to Ontario sent us to PVS. With the ticket number we called PVS who said in no uncertain terms that they were "busy and would get to it". I had to send the truck away but not until we paid for his morning time wasted. I have never had a to deal with a company who displayed such a lack of willingness to assist. They are clearly the only show in town, at least the only one Ontario 1 uses, and they act like it. The impression I was left with was that we were at their convenience ....they displayed no concern at all for the situation they created. Eventually someone did appear, days later, a line and a circle were put on the front lawn. A line for the gas to the house and a circle for the water shut off........but no line to shadow the water line to the house which was the important locate for this project. A follow up call to PVS and we were informed they don't do locates of water lines to the house through Ontario 1 because that is private and a fee is attached. Would have been nice to know that when we started this nightmare. So, our project was cancelled, we are out of pocket $150, have lost the joy of having our tree placed in a spot to enhance our property and PVS continues on treating customers with contempt. There is something wrong with a system that allows this to happen, unchecked. Rent a locator from one of the large rental companies and do it your self.
