Pet Valu

Two employees working Sat afternoon at Lakeshore Rd. pretty cold. No eye contact, paid for my stuff, my little dog went up to both of them behind the counter, hoping for a little treat like he used to get, they hardly engaged with him and couldn’t be bothered to give him anything. That was my last visit to that Petvalue.

Used the self serve dog wash. The shampoo is watered down and in a large container with a pump, so when you press the pump down the shampoo goes everywhere except where it’s meant to. Watering it down is probably causing more waste than not. All of the other locations I’ve been to have a slip collar attached to the rack on the wall. There was nothing except a clip in this location and my dog has a leather collar that I remove during bathing so this was a hassle. I expected more for a $15 self serve wash. I’m also fairly certain the other locations with better shampoo and a slip collar only charge $10.

I have been to Pet Value's from Ottawa to Woodstock and this one, right down the street from my house and it's the absolute worst one by far. Seriously there are no nozzles on the hoses, so if you want spray you have to use your Finger! Seriously! There are No treats to reward the dogs. Some stores have 3 to 4 different varieties from meat to vegetarian, this stores nothing! Towels, cheapest possible. All my complaints about the bath are nothing compared to how rude the staff is. Anytime i have gone in the staff is rude, you usually have to shout out to get them to even acknowledge you and right from the get go you get attitude. My husband went in after months of hearing me complain and he honestly thought I was exaggerating but after walking into the store he was met with rudeness, needless to say he walked out without purchasing our dog food. I have two large Old English Sheepdogs who regularly require food, baths and lots of treats all of which I buy somewhere else.

Staff know their stuff. They help me find the right products for my dog’s needs. I will continue to support my neighbourhood pet store because I want them to stay here for a long time.
