Ontario Truck Driving School (OTDS)

I just finished my heavy equipment training with OTDS at the welland yard!! I had Rodger and Warren as my instructors both of them were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately Rodger isn’t at OTDS anymore. Overall very good course I would recommend to anyone looking to get into trucking or heavy equipment operator.

I just finished my Full DZ Course with OTDS in Welland today and received my DZ license! It’s a bit bittersweet, as it was such a great experience all around. I want to give huge shout-outs to the instructors I worked with — Dan, Jim, and Rhonda (who subbed in from the Brantford location). They all have a wealth of knowledge, and every single one of them genuinely cared about each student’s success. It’s been an absolute pleasure learning from all of you, and I wish you the very best. As for the program itself — it’s extensive. The yard and driving days were always something to look forward to, with 1-on-1 hands-on experience behind the wheel of a sleeper-style tractor, guided by one of the knowledgeable instructors. The tractors are all well-maintained and well-equipped for learning the Schedule 1/pre-trip inspection portions of the program. There are also online Zoom classes — long, but very informative — and the instructors for those sessions were great too. Finally, I want to give a special shout-out to Michelle and Madison in the front office. Any questions I had were answered promptly and thoroughly, and they were always quick to communicate any updates or new information. If you're looking to get your license or certification for AZ, DZ, Heavy Equipment, etc. I cannot recommend this school enough! Thank you, OTDS — it’s been a blast, and I’m truly hopeful for the future thanks to you all!

All of the instructors here are incredibly kind, patient, and supportive. They truly go above and beyond to make sure you understand everything and feel confident behind the wheel. No matter what you need help with, they’re always there to guide you every step of the way. I highly recommend OTDS to anyone who’s thinking about starting their truck driving career—you’ll get excellent training and a team that genuinely cares about your success!

Sadly my Construction Transportation course has come to an end today but I wanted to give a special shoutout to my Heavy Equipment instructor Roger! I learned a lot of not only the basics & safety procedures but all the real life jobs/tasks I was given to do that will more than likely give me that extra edge when applying for jobs myself! Also, Roger shared his personal experiences in the field/industry which I felt was really insightful for someone coming fresh out of the program! Not to mention allowing me the space to work alone to develop my confidence & skills but the patience & mentorship shown to describe & then demonstrate the tasks in a clear manner at times when I was unsure & still to continue to put the trust in me to complete it properly & safely was very appreciated !

OTDS is a great school with fantastic instructors! I went for my AZ license and Heavy Equipment course. My AZ instructors were all very patient, knowledgeable and always nice. Especially Steve . I'd also like to give a special thanks to the heavy equipment instructor Roger. He was able to teach me many useful skills and methods on how to properly use various pieces of heavy equipment and would teach in a way that made it very easy learn and retain the information as well as having many helpful tips. He is definitely very knowledgeable in his trade. I would recommend this school to anyone looking to get into the industry. Finally i would like to give a thank you to the ladies in the office whom were always very helpful and very pleasant whenever I had questions or needed anything.
