I’m not sure who worked closing on March 3rd but at 5:30 am this gym is dirty. Weights have been left in the floor. Mats are on the floor and dirty in the weight area. Do better. As a paying member I shouldn’t have to clean before I work out.
View on GooglePart 2 3) Management: Lastly, where I feel this branch has really dropped the ball in terms of quality and accountability is their management of not only their staff but also their members. This has drastically changed in the last couple of years with the building of the new high school next door, which has drawn many students to come to the facility. While I think this is great for the community, it has gotten to a point that not only myself but many members that I know have avoided the gym entirely due to the unchecked behaviours of those students. Apart from the students, the gym etiquette of other members has become a problem that staff should be pointing out as well. Especially in the winter, members are consistently wearing outdoor shoes upstairs (with 3-4 members behind the front desk, you think that wouldn't be an issue). Other issues, including not putting back equipment, loitering and roughhousing, are also major issues that not only myself but other long-time members have noticed. At the end of the day, this falls on the employees to manage, not us as members. I apologize for the lengthy review, but these are issues that other members and I have been holding back for a while, and while I really do think this facility was once great, it has really dropped in these aspects that have caused me to begin to look elsewhere. I do think this YMCA branch has the ability to become like it was before the pandemic, but until ownership and management begin to identify the problems instead of feeling privileged to be one of the only larger facilities in the area, then I do think this gym will begin to slowly fade away in terms of memberships.
View on GoogleMy fav place to train outside of Muskoka. I started at the Welland Y over 25 years ago, and I love the friendliness, cleanliness, joy and inclusion here. The menorah at the front desk warmed my heart. Gabby was super nice- and so kind. Happy holidays.
View on GoogleI’ve been really enjoying the YMCA. The classes are great and easy to fit into real life, and the overall vibe feels welcoming and supportive. I especially love working with my personal trainer, Ashley. She took the time to create a custom plan that actually makes sense for me and my goals. It feels motivating without being overwhelming, which is exactly what I needed.
View on GoogleBasically this gym is good for rehab or elders. All machines are filthy and dated. Surprisingly, no one sued them for slip and fall due to piles of snow and black ice even when this place is used by mostly elders and children. Washrooms run out of toilet paper and napkin normally. Front staff is very polite and humble on weekdays while weekend staff is most rude and arrogant. Went to workout and surprisingly they were closed for no reason. Very annoying when they decide to close whenever they want. Their working hours are also not very user friendly. Have to move to some other professional gym in city.
