We found a stray cat that we eventually wanted to adopt and we had spoke to a vet and they said the best thing to do is to bring it into the humane society and request a call back when they’re ready for adoption. Welland said to bring the cat to Niagara Falls, and Niagara Falls said they’d give us a call. A call was never given but we saw she was posted for adoption at the Welland site and I notified the welland spca I was coming in after they confirmed it was the same cat. Someone had “adopted” her seconds before we got there. It was heart breaking. We took care of this cat before bringing her in. If we had known this was going to happen, we wouldn’t have listened to the vet’s recommendations and we especially wouldn’t have listened to the Niagara Falls SPCA staff and their lies. I don’t recommend the Welland or Niagara Falls SPCA because their communication skills and follow up are nonexistent , and my future donations will be going elsewhere. Good-bye Willow (named Phoenix at the SPCA). They have no idea how much this cat meant to us. We did everything what we were told to do, and it feels like a part of our family is missing. Update: the spca phoned us back and admitted full fault. The family is refusing to bring our cat back in. I can’t believe this happened. We just want our cat back. We wouldn’t have brought her in otherwise.
View on GoogleI've adopted multiple cats from Welland throughout the years. I've been fostering to adopt a cat since July, adoption pending dental surgery that I have in writing was supposed to be end of August, latest start of September. I reached out after time passed and in November I had finally gotten contact with an appointment date three days from then and would bring him Saturday morning I have voicemails for. I spent two days trying to get ahold of the shelter to confirm no one would answer, on the third day the shelter called me again. The woman Sarah who was extremely rude to me over the phone when she specified I now had to bring the cat Friday afternoon when I work all day. I nicely tried to explain to her I could not bring the cat at that time as that was not what I was originally told, I start and end work before and after the shelter closes, her solution was for me to bring the cat that very moment, which again I was working and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to arrange a dropoff in the times given, she took it upon herself to cancel his surgery completely and have had zero contact since. Very rude, zero compassion, zero willingness to compromise or even try to find a solution to get this cat his surgery, not to mention four months later than what was promised, now it's been another month with no word. This shelter has seriously failed this cat.
View on GoogleHad an orange cat that seemed injured & not collar. Kept coming around and we went to spca for a trap. They asked for a $100 deposit & charged $25 a week for use of trap. Luckily we caught the cat in 2 days, so only $25 charge.
View on GoogleSadly we had to put down our 17 year old sweet Coco down there a few weeks ago. The staff was fantastic. I don't know how anybody could complain. They took their time, they were empathetic, and caring. I imagine this is not an easy job for them. Approximately ten days Latet got a call to pick up the ashes. Definitely not an easy time, but I appreciate the care that we received at this location in wellend. Thank you ❤️
View on GoogleI had to make the decision to euthanize my cat today. The people at the humane society were amazing and so compassionate. The vet tech was so nice and didn't rush me to leave. I was able to sit with my daughter in a quiet room and just cuddle my Charlie. Thank you for making my decision a lot easier. God bless you all.
