I first off have to say the 1 star is only because the nurses have been OUTSTANDING!!!! The ladies have helped make us as comfortable as possible! We have been in emerg for 6hrs now… still haven’t been see. Nurses said the doctor is avoiding the emergency room, and explained the issues they’ve been having and my heart breaks for them. I have a CHILD with a distended belly and agonizing pain… who never complains. But here we are, 4hrs from home and have to deal with this pure incompetence. When he does get in this room, there’s going to be hell to pay!! As people are walking in everyone’s telling them to find somewhere else bc it’s so incredibly ridiculous!!!! Better off going to the states and paying at this point!!! Disgusting.
View on GoogleYour better off driving to Toronto … I’ve come here with pericarditis and had to wait hours and now I’m here can’t even shit down and very faint with alot of blood loss and I’m being told 6 hours ….. wait room is filled with old people all sleeping and talking way too loud and the nurse are very good are ignoring you. Waited 40 mins to triage and I was the only one in line . Was just watching the nurses enjoy their shift
View on GoogleWelland Hospital, & the entire community you guys need to advocate for funding to improve your hospital, this was my first time here because I compared wait times and decided to come here instead of the St Catharine’s hospital, my my my, I was NOT expecting the conditions of this place, nor was I expecting to be told that nurses hand choose who’s more important, for example I arrived sometime around 11:20am, I met a lovely triage nurse and I was checked in fairly quickly, within the 30-40 minutes I was waiting, 5 people checked in after me, I did bloodwork about 15 minutes later and sat for over 3 hours, but believe me when I say, within my time waiting to be seen, all 5 of those people who came in after me surely was seen treated and left before me, I’m no doctor but I can see clearly that most of those people who came in after me and was seen and treated after me didn’t LOOK like anything was an emergency. 1 guy checked in and was seen within the hour so he must’ve been SPECIAL. I’m not going to expose why I came to the hospital but I will say this, what I was experiencing as a post partum mom should’ve been addressed, now I’m not saying I should’ve been seen within the hour, but there’s no way, people who came in after me, got though way before me. Spoke to the nurse who assessed me and he said that, when they’re calling people to be seen and treated it goes off of the discretion of the nurses “who’s more of an emergency” sounds systemically racist. Everyone in that hospital while I was waiting were white. I was the only black female besides an elderly lady who also told me she was waiting from since 9:30am, she never got seen until 2:45pm all who came after her were seen treated and left. Welland hospital, your staff bypass people who are laying on the floor, they don’t seem to truly understand people’s pain and tolerance, and certainly don’t fairly operate. Such a disappointment. I asked the nurse who added me what were they waiting on in order for me to be seen by the emergency dr he said nothing all my blood work and urine samples came back, now you just have to wait, that is fine, but what I don’t understand is how people who have came after me, with little to no evidence of real emergency other than flu symptoms and needing a tetanus shot ( he got a tetanus shot) were treated before me, and left before me ?????
View on GoogleI visited Niagara Health – Welland Site once for an urgent care visit, and the experience was overall good. The hospital is smaller compared to the St. Catharines site, but the staff are very kind and attentive. The ER team was efficient, and even though the facility is older, it was clean and organized. Wait times were reasonable, and the nurses took time to explain everything clearly. Parking was easy and close to the entrance, which helps when you’re not feeling well. It’s not a fancy or modern building, but the level of care and friendliness of the staff make a real difference.
View on Google50 plus Views on my Google reviews| Level 9 Expert Google Reviewer Clean, Caring, and Attentive Staff Visited is what I was told by my brother in law at the Welland General Hospital, and he was impressed by how attentive and friendly the staff were. The hospital was very clean I even saw them coming around to clean both in the morning and evening. My brother in law said the food was surprisingly good too! The only downside is that they mentioned being short staffed and unable to open all rooms due to limited funding, which is unfortunate. Still, they’re doing an excellent job with what they have. We thank you Keep up the great work
