Review based on experience with intake process and four weeks (14 hours > $1,400) of ABA therapy. New Leaf did not align with our expectations. The "therapy" is billed at an hourly rate, with additional charges for training, preparation, and report writing. This cost model would be reasonable, if, like in most reputable clinics, the therapists adhered to their own policies. Instead, one session often runs into another. Therapists are left scrambling to prepare resources for their next appointment after the scheduled timeframe for dedicated therapy has begun. Twice, we arrived 20 minutes early, and got to watch our child spend 10 minutes (of a two-hour therapy session) running up and down a hallway, until a therapist got control of him and helped him with his boots and jacket, and prepared to leave, all still 5 minutes before the dedicated therapy session was scheduled to conclude. Regardless of if your child is placed with a senior therapist or an instructor therapist, therapy is billed at the same rate. We would like to commend the senior therapists that we met — they were capable and provided meaningful feedback. The issue is the frequency with which our son was paired with an inexperienced instructor therapist, whose competence did not warrant the cost of the treatment. The therapists repeatedly ignored our simple, specific requests. Our son was sent to therapy just after lunchtime. We asked the therapists to wait until the second hour of his session to give him his snack, as it was both a very motivating reward for him, and an important part of our schedule. This request was ignored three times. In response, the therapists dismissed the issue, avoided acknowledging our concerns, and made no effort to correct the issue moving forward — on three consecutive occasions. We were told that we would be able to observe all sessions through CCTV. In reality, it was a baby monitor, which staff were reluctant to set up. In our first week, I was promised that staff would look into setting up a Zoom-based webcam, but it was never mentioned again. Staff were unnecessarily rude at times. I once arrived at the session a few minutes early, and brought our son into the waiting room, headed quickly back to our car, parked just outside the entrance door, to retrieve our newborn in her car seat. I was berated by staff, who, for some reason, were quick to incorrectly assume that I was taking off, abandoning our son in the waiting room, despite regularly spending the first 20 minutes of each session observing the live video monitor. The intake process was cumbersome and should have been acknowledged as a red flag. There were delays, miscommunication, and an absence of professionalism. Showing up to our scheduled in-person intake meeting, staff seemed surprised by our arrival, in the middle of mealtime at their desks. During the second week, we were promised an important and comprehensive report of the assessments that were, apparently, taking place. After two more weeks of waiting, it was promised in writing to be delivered within 24 hours. It was, finally, delivered 5 days later. For parents looking for clinical therapy for their children — be prudent. Be aware and distinguish between what a service presents itself as and what it is in reality. In this case, New Leaf is better described as a respite daycare than a clinical ABA therapy practice.

New leaf is an amazing place with a great staff, they offer a very needed service in our community and do so with a smile (as challenging as it can be at times). Thank you for your ongoing dedication, patience and love you put in to your work , and the kids at New Leaf.

Reached out to New Leaf in Oct. 2021. Had an intake phone call and was told they would probably have a spot available for my son "in the spring". I called end of April 2022, they have no record of my son and he was never added to the waitlist. I was frustrated but things happen so I let it go and completed an intake paperwork package and email it all in at the beginning of May 2022. Am told that a clinical director will reach out to me to book an intake assessment call in 1-2 weeks. I hear nothing for 3 weeks so I follow up with an email asking about scheduling an intake call and get an immediate response saying they will look into it for me. Needless to say 4 months have gone by and I still have never heard from them. It is almost a full year from when I first reached out about services. The Registry section of their website currently states "we are currently accepting new clients with NO waitlist". Would not trust them with my son now even if they did ever follow up with me.
