A True Local Gem – Minor Fisheries, Port Colborne If you’re anywhere near Port Colborne, Minor Fisheries is an absolute must-visit! This family-run local business has been a cornerstone of the community for decades, and it truly shows in the quality of their food and the warmth of their service. Their fresh Lake Erie fish is unmatched — crisp, light, and perfectly seasoned every single time. You can taste the freshness in every bite. Whether you go for the classic fish and chips, the perch, or their pickerel dinners, you won’t be disappointed. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything feels authentically local. What makes Minor Fisheries stand out even more is their commitment to the community. They source locally, employ locally, and treat every customer like a neighbour. It’s the type of small business that gives Port Colborne its charm. If you want to support a hardworking local business while enjoying some of the best fresh-caught fish in Niagara, Minor Fisheries is the place to go. Highly recommended! What surprised me most was their pocket book ! It is now December 2025 saying bye , their new pocket book 2026 was truly a great gift !
View on GoogleFantastic fresh perch and pickerel. Batter is light, large portions, old school seating if you can get a seat. Staff is awesome. Fries are really good too. Great little fish and chips shop (and fresh fish sales). Highly recommended, a real gem. No other place in Port Colborne compares.
View on GoogleThe fried perch is so tasty and unique. They serve up some great fish and chips all around here. Really enjoyed the jalapenos in the coleslaw. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The tartare sauce is done really well too. Little tang and a lot of flavour. Friendly staff and fast kitchen. Like the exterior of this place. Prices are okay. Limited hours. No Free WiFi.
View on GoogleVisiting local friends, we took a short jaunt to Port Colborne to visit Minor Fisheries. Not only can you purchase the freshest fish to take home, but their fish platters are some of the best I've eaten. What I especially like about our meal? The perch and pickerel coating is so light and crisp...just enough to enhance the fish with a good crunch. It was a bit chilly so the doors were down on the enclosed eating area, but we could see through to the Welland Canal and watch a tanker float by. After eating, take a walk along the Canal road..so many cute shops to check out.
View on GoogleThis is a one of a kind fish and chips place. They use fresh fish and they are not soaked in oil. The food was tasty but, a bit pricy. The customer service was good and I would definitely recommend this place for visitors.
