Meridian Credit Union

Being trying to get hold of someone in this bank Niagara street branch over 45mins I been on hold yesterday and still haven't got true this morning samething. They changed ppl in thhat branch and know called and given an update. Very Very disappointing.

For years, the debit card provided auto-cancels after using it a single time. Because the debit card never works, to use funds, I've had to use the credit exclusively. They didn't send my credit card when my old one expired, and it's also impossible to get a hold of any real people on the phone, only robots. The service is terrible, the cards almost never work. 99% of the time, I can't access my own money, and it's never fixed, never working. Im sick and tired of doing work-arounds just to be able to use my bank "normally". Their security does more to prevent the real cardholder from using their account than it does to actually protect you. Easily one of the most frustrating, obtuse, awkward systems to ever be forced to endure. I plan on changing banks ASAP, and I regret ever choosing meridian in the first place. I currently have a debit that does not work, an expired credit with no replacement, and zero ways of getting in contact with any humans who can fix these issues. I'm fairly certain they never sent my credit card at all. It's LITERALLY UNUSABLE. Worst option available for your banking needs because it flat out, full on, does not function, in any capacity.

I have no issues with the credit union itself or the staff at this branch. However their drive through ABM barely works. I can safely say in the last six months I have successfully been able to use it maximum of three times out of a dozen. It’s will be down for weeks at a time which is incredibly frustrating especially when you are on a time constraint and need to withdraw a small denomination of cash. This has been a longstanding issue and the branch has not dealt with it.

I have used this branch 4 times since moving to Welland 6 months ago, primarily used the Fonthill branch prior to that. Of those times, the drive thru ATM has been functional once, and the ATM inside either doesn't have the denominations of bills that their sign advertises, or is not able to process cash withdrawals at all. I can't speak to the staff experience, but my experience with their ATMs has been frustrating.

Best place to bank. Friendly, helpful, low low service fees because you are a member not a number. They don't have to nickel and dime you like the big banks because there are no fat shareholders to pay profits to. Your money works for you here, not the bank.
