Mele Trattoria

Although we do not eat out often, we have always enjoyed Mele Trattatoria . Over the years, we have recommended it often to friends and have bought certificates as gifts for friends and family. Last Christmas, we were given a gift certificate. On Valentine Day, we tried to pay for our meal using the gift certificate..we were told that gift certificates could not be used on weekends or special occasions. I can see that rule being applied for coupons of any sort but, a gift certificate has been paid for. The restaurant has had use of that money for over 2 months..they already had our money and we should be able to use it at any time we chose . The food, service and atmosphere were still good, but the incident did put a little damper on the evening. We will no longer purchase gift certificates from there.

A hidden gem in Niagara. Easier street parking than in the core of downtown. Freshly made pasta in house. Great dinner/date night atmosphere.

Dropped in for a quick one-hour lunch with three companions and we were lucky to get the last four seats — the place was completely full, which says a lot about how popular it is. I started with the Flatbread appetizer — grilled flatbread topped with prosciutto di Parma, fig jam, and gorgonzola. The combination of the salty prosciutto, creamy cheese, and touch of sweetness from the fig jam was spot-on. For my main, I ordered the Affumicato, a rich fettuccine dish with smoked chicken, cremini mushrooms, spinach, leeks, pancetta, and a roasted pepper cream sauce. It was hearty, perfectly cooked, and full of authentic Italian flavor — just like what I’ve experienced in Italy. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive, even with a packed house, and everything arrived promptly. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, and it’s easy to see why this place fills up fast. Overall, a great dining experience — quality food, authentic flavors, and professional service. I forgot to take photos this time, but I’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu.

This is my new favourite Italian. So intimate and the loveliest, loveliest people. When we were there the usual server was on vacation so we had the pleasure of a sister of the chef. There were three siblings between the kitchen and serving and all seemed so lovely. The pasta was the freshest I’ve ever had and the pasta sauce was incredible. We were a party of four and we all walked out so incredibly happy with the people and the food. I can’t wait to go back.

Went here for my husband’s birthday dinner and I’m glad we decided to go. The food was EXCEPTIONAL. I would HIGHLY recommend. Everything was fresh, the waitress was very attentive, and the setting great.
