Our main floor renovation of our older bungalow is complete. Demo included removing 3 types of floor covering , trim , kitchen , gutting main bathroom, removal of old gas fireplace facade and hearth, removal of posts , handrail , and spindles from open stairwell to allow new materials for replacement. We hired McKeen Construction to bring our ideas/design to fruition and we are delighted with the results. The company was hired based on recommendations, reviews and wanting to support a local company. It was a 4 month process and so worth the results. We were initially given a time frame of 3-4 months and from our previous experiences with renovations at our other home , the 4 months were realistic. Main considerations for us was being within our budget , and communication with whomever we hired. Ryan and his team were always available for our questions , discussions and feedback. We appreciated their ideas and were not adverse to doing a pivot to embrace their suggestions eg. thicker subfloor etc., and were more than pleased with those results . Ryan or Sam was always here when sub trades present. Our new hardwood , tile , kitchen island , new over range vent to outside, counters , kitchen backsplash, drywalling an old entry from living/dining , the new gas fireplace facade , new bathroom with soapstone floor/bench and grab bars ( yes , we our at an age we need ) , painting , etc. has met our expectations and love it all. I am so impressed with McKeen Construction. Dylan who is the site manager was absolutely professional and represented this company to the highest level. I also found Dylan offer suggestions that only made my kitchen and laundry better. He is the person I would want to work with again. The renovations have been timely and beyond my expectations. All members of any part of the crew to worked here were sure to do the best work possible. My kitchen is so fantastic it is a dream come true. My husband and I recently hired McKeen Construction to renovate our kitchen, and we are so thankful that we found this wonderful company. While there certainly have been small projects that we have tackled and DIY, when it came to completing a major renovation project, we thankfully decided to leave that up to professionals. We ended up selecting McKeen Construction. From our initial meeting to the very end of our project, we couldn’t say enough great things about McKeen Construction. We decided on doing pretty much a full gut job and re-construction of our main floor. This included opening up walls, planning and bringing a vision to life that we had only in our minds. Ryan was fantastic in assisting with not only the planning of bringing this to life but also making his own design recommendations that helped make our vision even better. Communication is absolutely vital in a project of this magnitude and Ryan or anyone on the McKeen Team was always available and willing to discuss and answer questions throughout the process. The Team was extremely professional and attention to detail absolutely amazing. I have heard a lot of horror stories on major renovations and that has been happening even more so during COVID. Fortunately McKeen stayed true on original quotes and pretty much got the entire project completed on the promised time frame. We even occasionally requested some last minute add ons, tweaks or even additional work and everything was always completed with no hassle and as agreed. We were well aware that COVID was providing a lot of challenges for the industry, from shortages of trades, issues getting materials and run away costs. Somehow Ryan managed all this without missing a beat! Our home is now practically a new house and for the fraction of the cost of changing homes. The project brought our vision to life and has turned our first home into our dream home. Ryan and the McKeen Team were amazing professionals, attentive, honest and trustworthy. They always followed through on their commitments and we would recommend them over and over again. IF we ever need to take on another project, McKeen Construction will be the first call we make.
