KOTHU LABS NIAGARA

The food here was so phenomenal. We had the devilled chickpeas. They were really spicy but amazing green chili flavour. We had the hot butter calamari - this is the best dish on the menu, explosion of flavour! We tried a variety of kothus and rice. The lamb kothu had great flavour. The seafood kothu was amazing also! My favourite was the fried rice with chicken. We also tried the wattalapam, which was fantastic and very clearly homemade. Strong great jaggery taste. The location is nice, and the service was really amazing. I loved how the chef came out and spoke with us personally! The chef was super authentic Sri Lankan and so was his food, highly recommend. I only took off a star because a lot of the items on the menu weren’t available including the “authentic SL icecream” which my fiancés family was looking forward to.

BEST KOTHU I HAVE TRIED IN CANADA The food quality was amazing. We ordered hot butter calamari, deviled chickpeas, kothu roti and fried rice. Each and every one of them tasted just like the food served in Sri Lanka. The spice levels were perfect. Food was very fresh and the quantity was big. I tried the Watalappan for desert and it was fresh and tasty. The person serving was extremely nice and made sure we were happy with all the food that was served. He made sure to check with us about the spice levels of each food to ensure everything is perfect. He said “I want to make sure you guys have the best experience so please let me know if you need anything specific”. I am very happy about the customer service. The chef himself introduced himself to us at the end. He is a very kind and talented person. He has a very good knowledge and experience about authentic Sri Lankan food. All the items we ordered were made freshly by himself and he ensured to adjust the spice levels as we requested. If you are looking for authentic Sri Lankan food, this is a place you must try. The staff is very nice and care so much about the customers. I will return for sure whenever I am in town.

Good food. Good ambiance. Good service. My recent and first time visit to Kothu labs in Niagara Falls made me a fan of this place. Before I even had the meal, my eyes were struck by the ambiance. It’s rainforest meets fine dining. My eyes admired the decor and the scene that was set at this gorgeous restaurant. I had Chicken Kothu with gravy on the side. The flavours burst in my mouth as I took every bite of this amazing Sri Lankan food. The portion was just right. It filled me up. You have to try it. At least once. And like me, you’ll become a fan. The place is very clean and hospitality is great. Loved the chicken fried rice and Chicken Kothu. Great taste. Quantity of the fried rice was apt. One plate can be easily be shared for two people. Though the price is expensive compared to other similar restaurants, the taste supersedes it.

Food was very good and generous portions. Customer service was excellent as well. We were thrilled to find this establishment here when we visited Niagara Falls. We tried Chicken Kotthus with roti and string hoppers as well as fish rolls and fish pattis. Highly recommend for anyone and it is a fun food experience. Couple of constructive criticism for the owners - It would be great if you serve some gravy and ketchup on the side. Also, maybe if you could make it to different spicy levels, that would be great. I'm sure if someone asked for more gravy or hot sauce, staff would definitely accommodate that but it would be good if there is an option when you order it. We would definitely stop by when we are in the area next.
