Seventeen years ago, we purchased California shutters from Interiors By Better Shades, for all 3 bedrooms, all rec room and both bathroom windows. They have functioned beautifully. Recently, I broke a slat on one of the shutters, while trying to open a frozen window. I called Interiors By Better Shade to ask if they could repair the broken slat. They advised that included in their LIFETIME WARRANTY was free repairs. I most certainly was not expecting to hear that! When I brought the shutter in, I was met by a most friendly service counter woman, who took the shutter into the back shop, returned a couple minutes later and advised the repair would take about a half hour. When the repair was complete, she advised they had replaced all of the slats on the shutter. NO CHARGE FOR THE REPAIR!! The moral of this story is that when you buy quality products from a long time, well established place of business, you get an exceptional level of service. I highly recommend Interiors By Better Shade.
View on GoogleIn Oct I had Scott & Mellissa come into my home to suggest fabric for new drapes for my living-room and dining area. Since this was an expensive purchase, I didn’t trust my own judgment. They both helped me choose my new fabric and 6 weeks later my new drapes were installed. I LOVE THEM! Thank you both for your expertise and making this experience a good one. Also, thank you to the very nice installer, no extra holes in my walls and zero mess.
View on GoogleWe called Better Shades with confidence that we would receive a quality product. They provided us with motorized window coverings for 5 windows (2 small basement windows, 5 ft slider, 4.5 x 3ft kitchen window and a living room window approx 6 x8) in addition we had a bedroom window covered with a plastic pull chain black out blind. We placed the order in May and within a week or so to our surprise they had them installed. We immediately expressed our disappointment of the quality of the blind material. With an investment of $4600 we expected a superior product. The team was fabulous with the service they provided and returned to the house numerous times to attempt to reconcile the many issues we encountered. Which included noisy motors and creases and wrinkles in the material. I was told by the owner that they had a bad batch of motors that shipped from China and they swiftly had the installer return to remove them and fix them . We were really impressed with the service but our concern about the quality was validated with the ongoing problems we encountered. Upon one of the visits the installer told me he had to use tape on some of the motors - later when one shade got caught up in the motor; wires and tape fell out of the cartridge. When I presented this to the owner they denied ever using tape and I was told it must have been a direct result of something me or my contractor did. I took offence to this and I communicated my frustration. Despite returning numerous times to resolve our issues we are left with motors making a terrible noise in addition and the material creasing and wrinkling ( absolutely not a result of us “doing something “ as we’ve been accused) I returned home from their last visit to find the blind still defective and the motor still noisy as seen in this video. They haven’t yet responded at my last attempt to finally resolve this matter as it’s been 4 plus months since the original install date. Perhaps the fact that custom blinds were installed within a week of ordering them speaks to the quality…… We strongly recommend taking great care when choosing a quality window covering that reflect the investment being made. Update : June 19, 2025 I appreciate your feedback, but I must express my concern regarding your portrayal of the situation. We take IMMENSE pride in our home and always strive to maintain it with the utmost care. There has never been a painter present after the blinds were installed, and I assure you that no damage was caused by us. I want to address our initial conversation where I expressed my dissatisfaction with the quality of the blinds and the motors. During that discussion, you mentioned that those particular motors were made in China and that you were already aware of ongoing issues with them. I appreciated your willingness to return to replace the motors. I was grateful that you returned again to replace the fabric that obviously was damaged by the original defective motors. While I acknowledge that there are still ongoing issues as the quality of the fabric was substandard , I felt incredibly disrespected during your last visit, which made it difficult for me to consider having you back. Although I appreciate your willingness to assist further, It’s obvious that you’ve convinced your self that these issues were a direct result of my negligence. As a business owner I understand how expensive accountability can be. The best path forward for me was to respect my boundaries and handle the resolution independently.

Top notch designers helped us pick the right furniture for our space (Thank you Melissa!) and a quality in home service team installed beautiful blinds all around our home. They were efficient, courteous and on time. For the quality of products, the service, the price and attention to detail, we couldn’t have picked a better store. Highly recommend!!
