Lovely stay. It’s an old school Inn— but the Room was clean, bed was comfortable, staff friendly and being on the Lock was exactly what our trip was for. Saw lots of boats. Ordered pizza and enjoyed our stay. Room has a small fridge which worked well — Only thing I would suggest is a small microwave for the room.
View on GoogleIf stunning up close views of giant ships going by about 50 yards away is your thing, this motel is for you! Plus you will find yourself in great company, since suddenly all the balconies fill with ship spotters as a ship moves into the lock, and they'll call down to tell you which app to download so you have the lock schedule and each ship's details. Rooms and bathrooms are basic but spotless, with very nice staff bustling about keeping it all clean. Ground floor rooms each have a picnic table in front, so you can have a picnic and beer as you watch ships come and go. Hard to resist running to the window at 4am as you barely hear the low rumble of a ship, and throw open the curtains to see the lights slowly rising out of the depths. Thrilling!
View on GoogleExcellent place to stay. We loved the view of the locks and even got to watch a ship go through. The cleanliness was amazing, the price was good, the only downside was the bed was quite hard. Still managed to have a fairly good sleep. We would like to come back
View on GoogleStayed three nights in August 2025. We've stayed here before, specifically for the view of the Welland Canal's Lock Seven, but that was sixteen years ago and the place has changed hands since. The rooms in the hotel all face the canal and have balconies, except the first floor where there's a patio area. The bulk of the building dates from 1965 and has a dated look, both inside and out, BUT, that's all part of the appeal. It's basic, for sure, but it is scrupulously clean and really has everything you can want; tea and coffee making equipment, large flat-screen TV, fridge, and air-conditioning. The owners have worked hard to improve the rooms, and the free WiFi was fast and strong, which was much appreciated. The view is, of course, what so many people come for and it didn't disappoint again, with a 24/7 parade of freighters and ships in and out of the lock. The owner was very helpful and friendly, and played along with our five-year-old grandson when he wanted to see the reception desk. We also spoke with the woman doing the housekeeping, and she too was really friendly and helpful. The room rate was very competitive, especially given the hotel's proximity to Niagara Falls. It was certainly very good value for money. I would highly recommend this hotel, and we will be going back at some point.
View on GoogleThus is a quaint older hotel with a view of the ships going through the Welland Canal. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. As an old hotel it didn't have all the electronic luxuries of a newer place but I didn't miss them. The price was reasonable as it is close to Niagara Falls at peak tourist season.
