Thoroughly impressed with the services and care provided for me at Shaver after my knee replacement surgery. Systematic & professional in the rehab services they provided in every aspect. Community care at its very best- way to go Hotel Dieu Shaver!

The staff here were wonderful with my husband. Very caring, answered all my questions quickly and made me feel very at ease. Doctor Arvinte was amazing. She introduced herself to all of our family and answered all their questions. My husband had the best care possible

The people are lovely there. As a rehabilitative hospital, they strive for their patients to get better and have normal life restored. For loved ones who have particular tastes for food, this may be difficult for them. Would suggest working with your care team and helping where you can. Help with grooming and outside time, as conditions/circumstances allow, are one of the best things that you can do since the care team will be focused on the rehabilitative aspect, which is not always pleasant.

Shaver is like a breath of fresh air. My family member immediately began to thrive in the larger room, appropriate room mates and excellent staff involvement. Rehab is fairly intensive and appropriate for current physical and cognitive functioning. The grounds are conducive to healing with a garden like setting. I couldn’t be more pleased after seeing my mother in Welland rehab or my aunt at Fort Erie rehab ( where my cousin was told my aunt was lazy and wouldn’t try to walk…… then my cousin noted my aunts broken hip). So I am extremely pleased with Shaver. Excellent facility with excellent staff

My Mom was a patient after her brain aneurysm 8 years ago and we are still mortified about the experience she had here. I drove an hour a day to get there and an hour back to take care of my mom because of the filth and lack of care and concern here. I showed up with my cleaning supplies, food, and hygiene products to take care of my mom. When I passed the staff they were typically sitting there on their phones or laughing together. They are so bad, my mom ended up back in the emergency after I expressed extreme concern about her. Her sodium levels bottomed out and she was hallucinating and no one even noticed !!! I could wrote an entire book about how horrifying this place is. When my mom started to come around, she began to take care of the other patients in the room. Mom is a retired nurse and it was a complete disgrace to see the way she was treated after decades of caring for others. This place should be investigated!
