Penner Home Hardware Building Centre

I understand that this is the only hardware store in the Niagara-on-the-Lake area, but that should not be an excuse for poor customer service. The older cashier in the lumber department was extremely aggressive and rude. I explained to him that I had never worked with Home Hardware before and that I didn’t know how the system works, but instead of helping, he kept speaking to me in a very disrespectful and condescending way. I even had to come back for the second time today, and the experience was still very unpleasant. Customer service should be about helping people, not making them feel uncomfortable for asking questions. Honestly, I wish there was a Home Depot in this area so customers had another option.

Do not get wood delivered from this place!! DO NOT!! I did and i got all the pieces contractors don't want. The wood I received was terrible, soaking wet in green juice like the wood we used to get 10 years ago. Sizes were all over the places too. Most of them were bent. They advertise the nice sienna treated wood. I checked in their warehouse and they have it....but this is not what you will get if you have it delivered. I suspect one of their employees is making money out of this....BE CAREFULL....AGAIN DON'T BUY WOOD THERE, UNLESS YOU GO AND PICK IT YOURSELF!!

We were put in contact with Penners for a small custom build. It’s our first time doing a project like this and my wife and I were nervous, but we had Darren Ward as our sales representative and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Knowledgable, polite and friendly and I still can’t believe how quickly he replies to emails. The first load of lumber arrived today as stated and we’re excited to start this build! Shara the customer service rep at Penner Hardware seems to be the one who always is so friendly, greets me and asks if she can be of help. I was in the store yesterday looking for a reducer for my dryer vent and she picked up the exact part I needed in less than a minute! I was in and out of the store in less than three minutes with a friendly and efficient cashier as well. I am sure other staff members are super in customer service although my experience has been great with Shara the past several times. The part was competitively priced compared to a major online seller. Thank you for the excellent service. I am giving 5 stars.
