Holiday Inn & Suites St. Catharines, an IHG Hotel

I was really looking forward to my stay, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by issues with dogs at the hotel. Throughout my visit, I constantly heard dogs barking morning, afternoon, and late into the night. It felt like there was never really a quiet moment to relax or sleep properly. What made things worse was the situation in the small single elevator. Several times, I ended up sharing the small space with dogs that felt completely out of control. I found myself genuinely uncomfortable and anxious, worrying because a few of them charged at me in such close quarters. It got to the point where I hesitated to even take the elevator because I didn’t feel safe. I understand pet-friendly hotels can have animals around, but this experience felt unmanaged and stressful rather than welcoming. I really wish there had been better noise control and safety measures regarding pets in shared areas. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again based on this experience.

The staff seems decent enough. We specifically chose this hotel because they offered ev charging. None of the guests were able to connect with the ancient charging station. The room was clean but I have slept on piles of leaves and dirt while backcountry camping that were more comfortable than the god awful pillows and mattress in this hotel. Very disappointed!

Location was good as were staff at the front desk but the room was freezing. The temp was reading 65 initially. I couldn't take my coat off. I jumped in bed, fully clothed to warm up. It was still quite cold after about an hour so I went to check out the heater and noticed the dinky little window was open, blowing frigid air directly at me. Who knew it could even open. That definitely tainted my experience and I don't know that I would return to that location. Not to mention the floor was quite dirty. I had to brush debris off my slippers before putting them away.

We had a very nice stay. The hotel was very clean, the room was spacious and very comfortable. The access to the gym and pool made the stay feel like a tiny vacation. The staff was super helpful and the breakfast buffet was good (Waffel Station, fresh fruits, bagels, muffins etc.)

We recently celebrated our daughter Sofia’s baptism at the Holiday Inn, and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. From the very beginning, Maria Warden made the entire planning process so easy and stress free. Every detail was handled with such care and attention, and the whole team went above and beyond to make the day perfect. The food was amazing, the venue was beautifully set up, and the staff were so kind and attentive. The two bartenders were wonderful, and maitre D "Mama" were amazing and so attentive. Our family and guests had an incredible time. We danced, laughed, and truly enjoyed every moment without any pressure. Everything just flowed perfectly. We will definitely be hosting our Christmas party here because the experience was absolutely flawless. Thank you again to Maria and the entire team for making Sofia’s day so special.
