I’ve come to Hairquarters a few times now and it’s always been a lovely experience. Everyone is super kind and caring, the salon is very clean, you can tell the stylists are all passionate about what they do. Pricing is also super reasonable! I always give my stylist intricate projects and she kills it every time!!

Great salon inside the Fairview Mall. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming, it’s a nice relaxed environment. My stylist does a great job cutting my hair and I always see all the stylists doing amazing haircuts and colour as well.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN THIS FRUSTRATED EVER. I rarely write reviews. Only when experiences are at the extremes: extremely good or extremely bad. About 3–4 months ago, I had a perm here, and the results were phenomenal. The waves were soft, natural, and fell perfectly, exactly what I wanted (see first photo). The entire team was warm and welcoming, and Nikki, who did my hair, was absolutely lovely. Honestly, I would come back just for the conversation and hospitality alone. That’s why I decided to return for a second perm, and that’s where things went downhill. Nikki mentioned they were using a new perm solution that didn’t have the same ingredients as before and would need to sit about 10 minutes longer. I trusted her judgment. After the wash, my hair came out way curlier than the first time, but I didn’t panic since perms often relax a bit after the first wash. It wasn’t until my mother-in-law pointed out how tight the curls were that I compared photos, and that’s when I realized how drastically different the result was. I called the salon, came back for a hair mask treatment, but it didn’t help that much. After several conversations with the manager, the owner, and the owner’s daughter, things got even more disappointing. Instead of taking responsibility, they suggested the outcome might have been caused by my partner cutting my hair a certain way, or because I had a perm a few months ago. But as professionals, it’s their job to explain those risks before proceeding. Customers shouldn’t have to discover them after the damage is done. I asked for a refund, which I felt was the fairest solution, given how completely different the results were. But I was told they “don’t do refunds” and would instead “comp the next perm.” Respectfully, why would anyone agree to a third perm after this experience? What made the situation worse was the complete lack of empathy. Not a single person apologized. The tone throughout felt defensive, even dismissive, as though I was unreasonable for expecting results consistent with my first visit or for asking for a refund when the photos clearly showed otherwise. On top of that, I was asked to return a third time so the manager could “check” my hair where each visit cuts into my work schedule. I was advised to use hair masks, apply hairspray, and dry it a certain way, which honestly defeats the entire purpose of getting a perm. It’s to simplify my routine, not complicate it. I’ve had to attend a few personal and professional events since then, and I’ve honestly felt so self-conscious about my hair that I ended up wearing a mask just to feel a bit more confident. Dramatic? Maybe. But if your hair doesn’t make you feel like yourself, it affects how you show up in every space. Don’t get me wrong, the staff are lovely people. But when something goes wrong, the way the salon handles it is disappointing and unprofessional. Instead of accountability, expect excuses. Instead of solutions, expect deflection. And instead of an apology, expect silence. A complimentary “next perm” is an easy fix for them, but not for a paying customer left with damaged confidence and unsatisfactory results. If you’re considering a perm, I’d strongly suggest exploring other salons in the area. There’s a Korean salon nearby that I’m planning to visit next. And I wish I had done so sooner. EDIT: I have added pictures of my hair a week and 2 days after the perm and supplemental treatments (where I am wearing a beige pullover) To add, I’ve used the hair mask they gave me, shampoo’d my hair, blew dried it and spread a tiny bit of Argan oil since my hair is now super dry. What a DISASTER. I have a Halloween party tonight, a friend’s birthday tomorrow and mine in 2 weeks. I can’t explain how frustrated, helpless and mad I am about the whole situation. At this point, even a full refund wouldn’t have been a fair solution.

This is the second time I've been to the salon and had Jamie do my hair. It was fantastic overall. He was so knowledgeable and helpful with what hair color and cut would work and look best on me. And this second time around I was comfortable with him and trusted him so much that I just let him choose my hair color, and I couldn't be happier. I am so glad to have found my forever hairstylist. ❤️

Unfortunately, a terrible experience. I went in to get my son’s hair cut and provided a picture. I asked if someone is able to cut a young kids hair and they said yes. The person proceeded to start with trimming the hair and throughout the process I said this doesn’t look like the picture. The hair dresser asked her colleagues for advice and they kept on saying yes just keep trimming. This is what they ended up doing, picture below. An uneven bowl cut. I still paid for it because I didn’t want to cause a scene. I had to go to another salon to get his hair fixed before Easter dinner. Please next time just say you don’t feel comfortable cutting a kids hair so I don’t have to pay twice to get my son’s hair cut.
