Welland Golden Grill Family Restaurant

I was super excited for a family restaurant style breakfast. Only to be extremely disappointed when it arrived. For starters, my potatoes tasted off. Whether they were rotten, maybe stale? Im not sure.. something didn't taste right and I was unable to eat them (had everyone in my family also try them. And they all made a face and said they were not good at all) My eggs came extremely cooked on the bottoms and clear, runny on the top. They were beyond gooey. I called to let them know. Not to recieve anything back, not to get my order for free. Nothing but to let them know whats coming out of their kitchen, as I would want to know if I was in their position. The lady on the phone, her name started with an 'A' immediately became defensive. Telling me thats how they serve their eggs. They're supposed to be gooey like that on the tops. Which I get a light goo. Its eggs. This was quite raw. If you would eat this, power to you. But I'm not one to fill my body with raw eggs. And to make excuses over saying, "I can't believe we let this out of the kitchen, our mistake" Or SOMETHING.... When the potatoes were brought up she was quick to raise her voice and say how their potatoes are put on fresh every single day. Again, displacing any "blame". Mistakes happen. Potatoes go bad. Especially when they're actual real potatoes. I will for sure not be returning. Very disappointing

Absolutely amazing service, and delicious food! Quality and quantity of food are great. Price is very good. We enjoy the home feel atmosphere . We have been a couple times and each time we are never disappointed.

Went for breakfast and everything was great, food was delicious and waitress was excellent. I usually put honey in my coffee and when she came to bring be a second cup of coffee, I added the honey and drank it. Got to the bottom drink and felt something in my mouth, spit it back in the cup and it was chucks of the honey and the cup had a lot at the bottom, Told the waitress and she offered another cup. I said I had enough and left. I really think the honey was old. They should have given me a discount on my order or something. Wasn't very happy

We ordered the breakfast and it was delicious. My new favourite place to have a morning meal. Potatoes are cooked fresh every day and you can have them deep fried or on the grill. Free WiFi for those traveling. Super efficient service. A great Welland experience.

Edit 2023sept 3: Since the original post, we've returned quite a few times and every visit has been consistent. Great service again. Original post: Three of us went for late breakfast and were all pleasantly surprised. I had passed by this restaurant countless times and it did not seem inviting. Inside it looked dated. However, all 3 breakfasts were excellent. We all had eggs with different meat. The eggs were not the small ones that some places serve. The bacon, ham and sausages were plentiful and tasty. The home fries could use a little more crispness but that's my personal taste, not a fault. The prices were more than fair. Topping it off, the coffee was strong enough to my liking, not weak or watered down. Definitely will be returning.
