This was my first time at freedom mobile. It was an interesting experience. It was 12:00 noon on a friday, I went to open the door, the door is locked. You have to push a doorbell, and they'll buzz you in. Highly unexpected, however, I suppose a long narrow corridor in which the walls are filled with product, where at the very end of the narrow shop is a single female employee, I suppose there is reason to keep the door locked, even in a location as secure as this I was helped today by Ingar, and I explained to her that I was looking for a prepaid 30-day SIM card for an unlocked phone, for data. She told me there are three different options, 1 GB for $20 (plus $10 activation charge plus tax) 6 GB for $35 or 10 GB for $40. I found it strange that she requested government-issued photo ID to purchase a Sim card. I have purchased many prepaid sim cards through T-Mobile in the USA and had never been asked for ID before. The card was activated, she tested to make sure it was working before I left which I appreciated. Within 2 hours of purchase I had already received three scam texts (along the lines of"you have just sent an interact transfer to someone click here" and "we've been trying to contact you about your Amazon package, click here") and four unwanted phone calls to the freedom mobile supplied phone number. I will ignore the nuisance texts and phone calls, as long as the service works where I need it to for the time that I needed to, that's all I want.
