Good hotel to stay at. Very friendly staff at reception. The rooms are decent size and the beds are comfortable. I’d rate it more as a 3.5 if I had the option. Some parts could be improved, like the shower (joints) needing a good scrubbing inside and outside. Probably a good paint job too as the room paint was peeling in places. I’d also recommend adding some more lights to the hallway, it was very dark in some places (4th floor). Lastly, the heater in the room was pretty loud during the night. Other than that, it was very quiet. Overall the hotel is starting to show its age but it’s a decent hotel to stay at. No major complaints.
View on GoogleThere’s no way this is a 4-Star hotel. I am here now and it’s a nice hotel but does not match the cost!! It’s way over priced for the lack of amenities and service. No room service. Phones don’t even work to call the front desk or any department. Buffet (the you pay for) has to be eaten in the restaurant. This is a hockey teams-friendly hotel but we had kids running the halls after 1:30am. They were having fun and luckily we didn’t have to be up early however there are other gymnasts competing first thing this morning. Unless it’s with my kids hockey teams, I will NOT be staying here again. And in-room coffee is very weak!
View on GooglePlace is alright. Room was passable. Gave it 4 stars because the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast (2 eggs, sausage, multigrain toast) was outstanding. Never had sausages that good. Service in the restaurant was also very good. Other breakfast dishes were also good.
View on GoogleDuring a recent return leg of a road trip from Ottawa to Florida, I stayed exclusively at Marriott-affiliated properties, totaling approximately ten stays. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member, I selected these hotels with the expectation of consistency in cleanliness, professionalism, and hospitality. Four Points by Sheraton St. Catharines Niagara represented not only the weakest experience of the trip, but a clear deviation from Marriott’s established standards. Upon arrival, the front desk attendant was openly rude, dismissive, and visibly irritated by our presence. His manner of communication suggested that guests were an inconvenience rather than the central function of the establishment. While I generally avoid critiquing isolated interpersonal lapses, this interaction was sufficiently unprofessional to reflect negatively on the hotel’s management and overall service culture. Beyond service, the physical condition of the property was profoundly inadequate. Public areas were visibly dirty and poorly maintained, and the hotel had a persistent, unpleasant odor. The guest room itself was in an unacceptable state: the floors were sticky, and when wiped with a disinfectant cloth, the residue was visibly brown. Mold was present in the bathroom, wallpaper was peeling, and random debris remained under the furniture. These conditions indicate systemic failures in housekeeping and maintenance rather than an isolated lapse in room turnover. Due to exhaustion, we did not request a room change, though the conditions would have justified one. Upon checkout, we politely informed the front desk of our experience. Rather than acknowledging the concerns, the staff member questioned why we had not requested a new room if we were dissatisfied, further demonstrating a lack of accountability and guest-centered service. For a hotel operating under the Marriott name and charging rates inconsistent with its condition, this stay represents a serious failure of value and a reputational liability. This property does not merely fall short of Marriott standards—it actively contradicts them. I cannot recommend this hotel to travelers who choose Marriott properties for reliability, cleanliness, and professional consistency.
View on GoogleA nice, quiet hotel that’s great for a comfortable stay around the Niagara region. From the moment we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, which made check-in smooth and pleasant. The lobby itself is cozy and nicely done — nothing flashy, but warm and inviting. We were assigned a room on Level 4, which was convenient as there’s an ice machine right on the same floor. The suite was spacious and cozy, with a separate living room and bedroom layout. No bathtub, but everything was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The bed was especially good — very comfortable and perfect after long days out. We stayed during winter with strong winds and snow, and the bedroom heater was honestly a lifesaver. That said, the living room heater didn’t seem to work properly. Even though it was set to heat mode, it was blowing cold air, making the living area quite chilly at times. Something the hotel should definitely look into. On the plus side, the room also came with a microwave, which was a really thoughtful and useful touch. There’s a small snack shop right beside the reception where you can grab simple snacks and drinks — very handy if you don’t feel like heading out late. The hotel also has a small gym on the first floor, good enough for a decent workout, and a small indoor pool as well. For longer-stay travellers, there’s a laundry room with one washing machine and one dryer. It costs about CAD 4 for washing and CAD 4 for drying, roughly 40 minutes each — practical and fairly priced. Location-wise, it’s very convenient. Just around the corner, you’ll find familiar fast-food options like McDonald’s and the local favourite Tim Hortons. With a car, it’s about a 30-minute drive to the outlet malls for shopping, and you’re also very close to Niagara Falls, making it a good base for exploring the area. Overall, a solid, comfortable stay with friendly service, good amenities, and a convenient location — just let down slightly by the living room heating issue. Would still happily recommend it, especially for winter stays with a car.
