amazing library staff and it are always so happy and cheerful
View on GoogleI’ve been living here in Fort Erie for over 20 years and I haven’t been in the library for maybe four years. A few days ago, I walked in with my wife and I couldn’t believe the change that they made inside. Horrible. Just horrible. I can’t believe that all the library books have disappeared. The non-fiction section must have only about 550 books. Whereas before when I was in it there must’ve been like 20,001 books just in the non-fiction section. The open space concept looks so terrible. There’s no posters or pictures hanging advertising to make it look like a library. Instead, it looks like you’re walking into a prison institution. White concrete walls. A few private room with phones that you can talk to the prisoners to through the glass. Well almost. My wife went to the computers and was helped by a nice librarian there, but the speed of the computer was -20 turtle mhz she said. I understand that the Internet and devices like Kindle have done much damage to what we would call novels and books. But they still do exist and plenty plenty of good ones are still out there right up to 2026. What has happened is unbelievable. They can learn some really big lessons from the greatest library that I was raised up in as a child and that is the one in Port Colborne. I think I will have to travel there and make a few stops to visit family since I’m at the library anyways.
View on GoogleYoung librarian staffers are always so eager to answer questions and assist with your questions. If you’re looking for a quick quiet down time, best place to start is here.
View on GoogleCute library, staff are welcoming. They host community events here free to the public. You can see them on their website, they're lots of fun especially cause I'm new to the area and live just down the street! Big fan
View on GoogleMy family and I attended the Mother's Day tea on May 3rd at the FEPL. What a beautiful, well organized event. There was a wide variety of hot tea choices with real china dishes, great snacks, games & crafts. Serena not only is a great librarian, but a wonderful hostess. The 2 students helping were kind & helpful as well. Good job Fort Erie Public Library and thank you.
