Closed? A mausoleum closes at 5 pm? Seriously- I like visiting my mom in. The evening around 6 or 7 and I am being dictated as to what time I can visit and when? And it has to be working hours from 8:00 am -5pm? Do you not have any regard for people who aren’t available that hour? If you’re concerned about security- make a passkey lock and anyone who has family buried there, gets a key card like a hotel, but do not stop me from visiting a deceased parent! Machines are so affordable and available on Amazon and you can literally buy the keys in bulk and program them! Across cultures and centuries, evening has been regarded as a time of communion: with memory, with mystery, with the departed. When the world grows quiet, distractions fall away. The noise of the day gives way to a slower rhythm, and in that stillness, one’s inner senses awaken. The boundaries that keep the living and the dead in separate realms seem more porous then — not because spirits suddenly appear, but because our awareness deepens. To restrict visitation to daylight hours is, in a sense, to misunderstand the nature of remembrance. Grief and love do not obey clocks. The heart feels most connected when the world softens and the mind opens to the unseen currents, that dusk invites. Evening is not a time of fear, but of intimacy — when the soul listens, and the echoes of those we’ve lost answer softly back. And I’ve heard those echoes.. many times.
