Dr. Chieu is professional, very thorough in his analysis and a warm and caring person. Niagara region is fortunate to have Dr. Chieu. I have an annual assessment by the doctor and always look forward to the concluding discussion with him. His advice is direct and easy to understand. I have only positive thoughts about Dr. Chieu and his staff. Thank you Dr. Chieu!
View on GoogleI am a 69-year-old senior citizen. Recently, I experienced severe chest pain and immediately sought emergency care at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. After undergoing a series of tests, including an ECG that showed significant changes, I was advised to consult a cardiologist without delay. Following this urgent recommendation, I approached the Fourth Avenue Cardiac Clinic to request an appointment. At the front desk, I initially spoke to a courteous young lady who began assisting me. However, another staff member—a middle-aged woman—abruptly intervened in an extremely rude and dismissive manner. She demanded a referral form in a harsh tone, without any courtesy or empathy for my condition. Despite my elevated blood pressure (180/99) and evident discomfort, this individual continued to treat me with hostility. I promptly contacted the front desk of my family doctor, She is so nice and responded with great professionalism—she faxed the required referral immediately and even confirmed its receipt with me. When I tried to resume my conversation with the first receptionist, the same rude woman once again interrupted, insisting that she alone would “deal” with me. Her conduct was shockingly arrogant, unprofessional, and completely lacking in compassion—especially considering the critical nature of cardiac issues. This experience was distressing and unacceptable. I have never encountered such inappropriate behavior, especially in a medical facility where empathy and respect should be foundational values. Ultimately, I felt so unwelcome and humiliated that I left the clinic, telling the staff I would not seek treatment from a place where patients are treated so poorly. I believe strongly that “well begun is half done.” A clinic that treats patients with such disregard does not deserve recommendation. I urge you to review the behavior of your front-desk staff and ensure that no other patient, especially one in distress, has to endure what I did. (SYED HUSSAIN)
View on GoogleDr Chiew and his team is the most positive experience I've had with any medical professional. My appointment was at 3pm and he saw me at 3pm. He had also read my chart before seeing me. He was efficient, reassuring, and knowledgeable.
View on GoogleAfter recently being dismissed and mocked by a neurologist when I shared that I have been diagnosed with Lyme disease, Dr. Chiew's validation and empathy almost brought me to tears. He is so caring, attentive and very thorough. His front desk staff are amazing as well.
View on GoogleMy wife and I both had our first visits with Dr. Chiew today. We were both impressed as soon as we walked in the office by his friendly efficient receptionist. Dr. Chiew took his time to discuss our heart conditions. He always spoke to me directly, as I have a hearing condition. Dr. Chiew had read our health histories before our appointment and was able to suggest an informed path forward to keep us both healthy. There was a late cancellation for a stress test so I was able to have it done while I was there. The stress test staff were excellent and explained what they were seeing on their computer screens as they read my results. My wife and I both came away from our appointments knowing our hearts where in good hands. A big thank you to Dr. Chiew and staff.
