Crystal Beach Motel

The room we were in was newly renovated and very clean. It's on par with any 3-star hotels in Ontario. I would stay again.

It’s what you’d expect from a roadside motel, though it’s walking distance to the downtown and beach. Also there was something inspired about the decoration of our room—so many textures, colours and materials but it came together in a delightful way. Someone clearly cares about this space and it’s a welcome change to the beige monotony of the hotel chains dominating the landscape. That said the walls were paper thin (we could hear the passionate couple next door including the awkward post-romp pillow talk word-for-word as though we were in the bed beside them) and the room had a musty smell. We paid just over $200 after tax for a night—a bit high which inevitably took away from the appreciation of its quirks. They had a place for bike parking and the front desk lady laughed at us when we asked if there were any restaurants that had vegan option lol.

We were quoted one price for the room, and when we arrived a month later we were told it was $100 more. We negotiated it down but were unhappy. We never got an email confirmation so there was no paperwork to prove either way. The rooms were clean but very dated. There was no outlet in the bathrooms. The grab bar for the shower was in a totally useless place.

What a hole. Reservation were made for $79 a night 3 weeks early for 5 room, but no written confirmation—my bad. At arrival the attendant said $179. Nearly a half hour of “conversation” dropped it to $149. Yay…. Room is very small. Bed is ok. AC works. Outside and grounds pretty shabby. Nowhere near a fair price. It’s called bait and switch with a scam attached. Owner should be sanctioned. Very bad business. Two weeks ago friends paid $176 for a hotel in a downtown hotel.

Very nicely priced for the area and what 'was' advertised, however our room did not have AC or any type of fan to cool the room. Our room was clean and peaceful but lacked any sort of renovations which I was looking forward to (based on advertising). Front desk was very helpful giving us an earlier check-in time and was just minutes from our wedding venue. Would only stay again if the rooms were as advertised
