After 10 years of being insured by this office, I decided to cancel my policy after I found that there is no communication between the company's representatives. During a request for a change of policy, I had different opinions and amount of charges from different members of the call center. The operators follow up the computer's screen prompts without knowing what type of discount you have received. In my last quote, I received a $200 fluctuation in prices depending on who is on the line. And, of course, the price was never lower than the initial quote. The system (as per representative) increases prices right away during the call when information is entered. Welcome to the algorithm of the "Co-operators customer service scripting".
View on GoogleThis office has completely obliterated my insurance record. Following an at-fault accident I was dropped as a client after making a claim. The reasoning they provided was “underwriting” due to the charge I had on my record. I called to explain that the charge would likely be dropped following a court date that was *two days* after my insurance was set to expire but they were completely unwilling to help even after being with this company for 5 years; the entire time I’ve owned a vehicle. I fully believe that after paying me out for my car, they did not want to have to honour first accident forgiveness. Now that I have been dropped from an insurance company and have a claim on my record, I pay nearly $150 more a month despite the one charge on my record being minor. I would not have this issue if the company would have had any sort of flexibility, or had let me know a longer term in advance. They acted like they were doing me a favour when they called to tell me my policy would be cancelled. On top of this, I often found this office hard to get ahold of. They were great when I was looking to buy, but when I tried to reach out to the broker I had originally been in touch with following the first two months of my contract I was lucky to get any response at all. When I heard back she would typically be “looking into it” with no follow-up. The highlight of this story is the payoff I got when I wrote off my car is about as much as I’ve ever paid them, so I feel like I got my money back. While I expected my insurance to increase following my accident, I never dreamed I would have to stop driving altogether due to the unaffordable increase in my premium. Thanks Giancola!
