Chile & Agave Mexican Grill

We made a day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake from Oshawa and decided to try this restaurant. I am glad we did. This restaurant is, as I expected, as unique as other Mexican restaurants, even though they offer the same menu items. Their Carne Asada tacos were amazing! The beef was very tender and moist. A unique touch at this restaurant is their chilli oil that is available on the table, which adds great flavour and a bit of heat to any dish. Definitely will return when we are in the area.

I had the Pastor Tacos and they were so delicious. I legitimately think they’re my new favourite food. The meat was cooked perfectly, the pineapple added a nice pop of flavour…. I even loved the rice and beans. Will be back!

Came here for dinner and had an amazing first experience. The food was hot, very fresh and delicious. The portions were great and the value for price was on point. The menu had great options. Our server Jeremy was awesome. Friendly and helpful and attentive without being annoying. The other two servers who occasionally took care of us were also friendly. Will definitely come back. My only suggestion is that they play the authentic Mexican music that they had in the outdoor eating area in the indoor eating area as well instead of non-stop pop. A mix would be great.

The atmosphere is amazing. Even if the dining area is packed, there is still more than ample room between the tables and nobody interferes with any other groups’ ‘personal space’. The food is amazing. It really is as authentic as you can get. Everything comes out piping hot and looks absolutely perfect every time. Typical busy times (dinner, weekends, weekend dinner etc) I would recommend calling and making a reservation. Parking lot is relative to the size of the restaurant, but the spots fill quickly and it isn’t exactly a pickup-truck friendly size. Try and carpool with your friends if you can. The neighbouring businesses keep an eye on their lots and will tow anything that doesn’t belong. Even with massive portions and delicious beverages, the total bill was still much less than what you’d pay at a commercial-chain restaurant.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We came to Chile & Agave to celebrate my niece’s birthday, and I have to say this place exceeded all of our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and genuine hospitality. The atmosphere is cozy yet vibrant, and it immediately made us feel at home. The food was absolutely on point and so authentic – every dish was bursting with fresh flavors and cooked to perfection. You can truly taste the quality and care that goes into every bite. We tried a variety of dishes, and each one was better than the last. Easily some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in Ontario. The service was equally impressive. The staff were so friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to make our experience special. The highlight of the evening was when they surprised my niece with a small birthday cake — such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that made the celebration unforgettable. If you are in St. Catharines and looking for authentic Mexican food, look no further — this is hands down the best place to go. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and their kind-hearted staff makes Chile & Agave a true gem. We will definitely be coming back and recommending it to everyone we know!
