We had the most magical anniversary at The Cannery! I was so excited to get inside that I actually fell UP the stairs walking in, apparently, my feet couldn't keep up with my appetite! The food was incredible: I had the Atlantic Salmon and my husband loved the Seafood Risotto. Don’t miss their blue cheese bruschetta, it’s a genius twist. With an amazing wine selection and a decadent dessert, the meal was flawless. A huge thank you to our server, Jake, and the wonderful staff for making us feel so special. They turned our milestone into a true fairytale. We’ll be back (and I’ll be watching my step)!
View on GoogleI’m truly disappointed to be writing this, but after two decades of coming to the Cannery Restaurant at Pillar and Post, this last visit was beyond terrible. The location is lovely as always, just a few blocks from the charming town, and this place has always been special to us. But that charm has really faded. We ordered our usual dinner package, and it was a disaster. My appetizer, the tuna tartare, had hardly any tuna at all—it was mostly beans of all things, and the crackers were just hard and awful. The prime rib was the only thing that came out right—perfectly cooked, which almost made it more frustrating because everything else fell apart. The service was atrocious. We ended up sitting there for two hours. We waited over 30 minutes just to try and order dessert (included in the dinner package), and finally just gave up and left. We brought it up with the hotel front desk, and while they tried to call us, we were never offered any kind of compensation. We ended up paying full price for everything despite not even having dessert and the appetizer being a complete letdown. Unfortunately, this might be the last time we dine at the Cannery and maybe even the last time we stay at Pillar and Post, especially with new hotels and fine dining options popping up around town. It’s really sad to see a favorite place go downhill like this.
View on Googlethe vibe is just as cozy as I remembered—that exposed brick and the fireplace really set the mood. I went for the Prime Rib (it’s a classic for a reason), and it was cooked perfectly. My partner had the swordfish, which was surprisingly light. Our server, Patricia, was lovely—super attentive without hovering. The only minor thing was the price tag; it’s definitely a splurge, and the room can get a bit loud when it’s full. But for a romantic night out in NOTL, it still hits the mark.
View on GoogleAmazing dining experience. Our service by Melanie was impeccable. She was a delight and very attentive and sweet. We truly enjoyed our evening thanks to her. The crab cakes are a must try. They melted in our mouths and were so flavourful. My husband got the prime rib meal and the portion was great, the meat was tender and he loved being able to dress his own baked potato. I got the mushroom pasta dish and it was creamy, rich and very filling. A pleasure for mushroom lovers. We ended our meal with the sticky toffee pudding and really appreciated how light it was. We celebrated our anniversary this evening and the meal and experience truly made our evening memorable.
View on GoogleThis was the Best steak dinner we have had for a long time. I had the tenderloin and my husband had ribeye. The steaks were so well cooked, and the truffle potatoes so dang good. Everything was so good i didn’t remember to take any pictures. Our server was also fantastic and the atmosphere really good.
