Accessibility failure. Paid service not provided. I paid $45 for delivery to the door of a 110 lb package to a residence shared by a 79-year-old woman who uses a walker and myself, a disabled person with medically documented mental-health disabilities. This delivery failed accessibility requirements. I stayed home, kept my phone free for the intercom, and was present during the stated 9:30 AM–1:00 PM delivery window. No attempt was made to deliver to the door. Instead, a delivery notice was placed inside our LOCKED indoor mailbox instructing us to retrieve a 110 lb package ourselves — something physically impossible for both occupants. This confirms the driver accessed the building but did not attempt door delivery, despite the additional fee paid specifically for that service. I contacted Canadian Tire customer service and spoke with Josh. His handling of the situation was unacceptable. There was no apology for the failed service, no effort to de-escalate, minimal acknowledgment of accessibility barriers, and more sympathy expressed for Canada Post than for two vulnerable customers. I was told I might receive part of the delivery fee back, with no clarity or resolution, only vague references to “corporate.” This is a serious accessibility and duty-of-care concern. Charging for a service and then placing the burden on elderly and disabled customers to resolve a failure themselves is unacceptable. I am still awaiting a response to my January 8th email to Canadian Tire customer service. If Canadian Tire is charging for delivery services that exclude or disadvantage elderly and disabled customers, this requires immediate corporate review. Sharlene Innes

They are really nice people to work with. Just make sure if they do help you that you do what you say.
