Booked the rental over the phone. Everything seemed to go well had a very tight deadline to pick up vehicle and make it to Toronto for an appointment. They opened for 8 am and we were there by 8:01. Told the lady on the phone who the driver would be and that we didn't have a credit card but our son did, who is also licensed and would be using his credit card for payment and their ridiculously large deposit. (Son was also going to be in the vehicle but wasn't 25 years old) she said it would be an issue if both were present. Arrived in the morning to a rather rude worker who refused to accepted credit card, offered to put the whole thing on debit or pay cash and was refused. Needless to say they completely screw us over and handled the whole thing very unprofessionally Ended up missing our appointment. Have rented with Enterprise in the past never an issue to use a debit card. Would have used Enterprise again but they didnt open until 9. Will never try and use Budget again or recommend anyone to them. Train your staff how to be pleasant have ever one on the same page with how payments work.

First time renting a car for the weekend, quick and easy pick up and drop off. Will definitely use them again ☺️

I would like to share my unfortunate experience with Budget, which regrettably did not reflect the professional reputation the company is known for. During my recent rental, I was subjected to unprofessional and aggressive behavior by the branch manager. Although I washed the car before returning it and ensured it was in a clean and proper condition, the manager fabricated an issue, claiming he smelled smoke — not inside the car, but from me personally — in an attempt to unjustifiably charge my credit card with additional fees. When I requested to cancel another rental contract I had signed for an additional month due to this unacceptable behavior, the manager refused to cancel it. Instead, he escalated the situation by forcibly ejecting me from the branch and wrongfully calling the police. Upon their arrival and after reviewing the situation, it was clear to the police that I was in the right. For the record, I fully documented the incident on video but chose not to publish it out of respect for privacy. This kind of misconduct not only reflects poorly on the branch but also damages the reputation of a well-established company like Budget. As a frequent international traveler who rents cars regularly, I find such behavior completely unacceptable. I sincerely hope Budget’s management takes this feedback seriously and addresses such issues appropriately to prevent future harm to the company’s reputation.

My review isn’t at any fault of the employees, but the company overall. We arrived to get our rental shorty after we landed from pearson. When we arrived, our car (Buick suv) wasn’t ready or cleaned. From the looks of it only one employee was working so we understood and asked for something smaller or similar. They gave us a Ford Escape instead which was perfect. When we went to check out and pay, we picked the full coverage insurance. The employee had to call someone on how to add that on, and then wasn’t sure how to add a Nova Scotia license into the system. This process took a little over 30 minutes in what should’ve been pretty quick. The person I was with was getting impatient (which I wish the employee was working when we dropped the car off because he wanted to apologize). On top of this, the system kept crashing and we had to repeat the process several times before we could be on our way. Where this is near high volume tourist attractions, the company should be training their employees properly on how to process insurance and drivers licenses from other provinces / countries. That isn’t fair the employees to be put into such situations. The employee was fantastic, the company not so much.
