I attend the Bfit program at the Canada Games Building. It is outstanding. I also attend Brock hockey games. There is a great walking track open to the public. The courts get lots of use as well. A great facility...

Serious concern about children’s swim classes and parking policy This review is for the leadership of Brock University. I am a parent whose children attend the swim classes at the Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre, and I am extremely disappointed with how families are treated by the current parking system. In the winter, parents are sent to very distant parking lots (it feels like almost 2 km away), and young children have to walk all that distance in the snow and freezing cold. They leave swim class wet, with wet hair, and still have to make this long walk in winter conditions just to reach the car. If a parent tries to park closer so their child doesn’t have to walk so much in the cold, they risk repeated $50 tickets and even having their parking account blocked. The swim instructors themselves are excellent – kind and professional with the kids – but their work is overshadowed by a parking policy that, in my experience, feels abusive to families. It gives the impression that the priority is not student and child safety or accessibility, but making money from parking tickets. I believe this situation is unacceptable and should be seriously reviewed by the university administration and, if necessary, by external authorities. No child should have to walk such a long distance in the Canadian winter, soaking wet from a swim lesson, just because their parents are afraid of being fined. Other places like the YMCA, Kiwanis or community pools usually have free or nearby parking right next to the building. Because of all this, I cannot recommend Brock’s children’s swim classes to other parents.

I would like to let other parents know that if they are looking for a school that is good at accommodating Gluten Free that our experience with our daughter who is a first year student has been terrible. Even though we filled out all the necessary paperwork our daughter was placed in a dorm at the opposite side of the GF kitchen. And her dorm room had no kitchen facilities so she had not been unable to feed herself. Furthermore, the two times she walked out to the GF kitchen and asked for an access pass she was told to return another time as no one was there to assist her. We are now moving her in January to a single apartment so she can cook for herself. I have called and emailed the school before school started and since and got no response. I find this is very unreasonable. My hope is that future parents and students when looking up GF at Brock that they are aware of these issues so they don’t have to have a similar experiences. Don’t pick this school because you think your child’s GF needs will be met.

Brock University's Kid Camp program offers a variety of activities for kids finishing grades 1-11, led by experienced university student mentors. The program promotes discovery, adventure, and friendship through Arts and Culture, Science and Technology, Sports and Fitness, and Outdoor Adventures. Kids develop new skills, build confidence, and have fun in a safe and inclusive environment. Overall, Brock University's Kid Camp program is an excellent choice for kids seeking adventure and learning.
