My wife and I booked a Decadent tasting on a Monday afternoon which the winery was all to happy to prepare. The tasting included 3 wines (their sparkling Eric Brut, and 2 ice wines) each paired with aged cheddar cheese, a piece of Basque cheese cake and a brownie respectively. Ralf and his wife Elaine were amazing and we chatted for over an hour about the wines, the winery and the ice wine process. She even showed us videos of the night the collect all the grape this year for the ice wine. And we even talked about moving to NOTL and she showed us their amazing wine cellar. Overall it was a fantastic experience on a quiet Monday afternoon. This was our 3rd visit to Between the Lines - the previous two we did the Charcuterie Picnic which was excellent as well. We will definitely be coming back PS: the wines were excellent. The Brut was a bit sweeter than a normal brut which is just how we like it and the ice wines were not as sweet as some of the other wineries.
View on GoogleWe toured a few wineries last year and Between the Lines was our favorite. So we came back for a portfolio tasting this year. The variety and innovation across their entire portfolio is captivating. Comparing the oaked to the unoaked, the sparkling to the still, and the sweet to the dry is a taste experience that's hard to replicate. Ralf helped us pair the wines with the charcuterie board and the cheeses and nuts augmented the experience. He was knowledgeable about wines and certainly enjoys his job. Thanks for the great time, Ralf! Having a tasting partner to compare with is a good idea. My wife and I had different preferences, but we both found many things we liked. We ended up bringing home the gewurztraminer and some of the canned wines. But we already had some of their reserves aging back home. Can't wait until they come of age!
View on GoogleWe were on an Elles Trip (also known as girl's trip to those thats name doesn't end in an *ELLE) and visiting a Canadian winery was on our bucket list. It was easy to book, easy to find, and hard to find faults during our visit. The team was welcoming and we loved the ambiance. We had charcuterie and local ontario cheese/meats paired with wine tasting (4 glasses). Elaine was amazing. She was able to sprinkle science and history inbetween sips and bites so fluidly that you didn't realize how much you learned until the end. Would definitely recommend
View on GoogleBetween the Lines is a rustic family owned winery in NOTL. The 2 brothers Greg and Yannick Wertsch are focused on experimentation and innovation in wine making. You cant miss the big red barn when driving thru the wine region! Everyone was friendly and the wines were enjoyable. The tasting area is casual and while you sip you are surrounded by barrals aging and their tanks. We did the Black Glass Tasting which is a guided blind tasting of 4 wines. It was a fun way to learn about the wines, flavors and aromas. We guessed 3 of the 4 correctly! The Lemberger was my favorite: a noble grape known for its persistence and quality in the cooler climates of Austria and Germany-also known as Blaufränkisch. We brought a bottle home with us. My rating rationale for beer, wine, or spirits: +1 Service +1 Atmosphere/Vibe +1 Taste/Quality (Flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the beverage) +1 Presentation (Glassware, garnishes, and visual appeal of the drinks) +1 Selection/Variety (Range of beer, wine, or spirit options and uniqueness of offerings)
View on GoogleLoved everything about Between the Lines Winery. It was easy to make a reservation online and our tasting experience was fairly priced. Kudos to Brian, who shared a lot of good information and insights with us about the wines, he made our visit great! We like reds, so that's what we sampled, and what we tried we liked. The Cabernet Franc, 2022 Reserve Cabernet Leon, 2021 Reserve Lemberger, and 2021 Reserve Pinot Noah are all delicious. We also really enjoyed the ice wine. Who would have thought adding four drops of Red Hot sauce to ice wine would produce such a delicious taste? To sum up: Between the Lines Winery is fun, educational, and offers many tasty wines you'll probably want to take home.
