Communication is really bad with this agency. Despite needing nursing care they don’t call the day before to inform you of when they are coming. According to their policy the nurses have to call you the day before and not 1/2 hr-1 hr before coming. They wear shoes in my place of residence making it very hard for me to clean the floors after they leave, especially in the winter. My floor has permanent damage because they don’t use the garbage provided but my floor as a garbage instead. Overall, between ongoing scheduling mistakes, poor communication between both the nurses and with the office. Changes in the schedule and don’t notify me all make it stressful and make you feel that your visit is not important. It shouldn’t be my job to be the one on top of making sure my visits are filled and not schedule nurses that are not available. But still continue to schedule this nurse. Then scrambling to find a nurse to come the day of the visit and still no phone call to inform me. Definitely not making any effort to work as a team or have any empathy for their clients. I guess they think that you’ll always be sitting at home and have no life or medical appointments. You are always available at any time of the day is what they expect from you. It’s common to just give me one option for the time of my visit. Heaven forbid you have something at that time as there is absolutely no flexibility. They tell me we don’t take any time specific clients yet the nurses are always telling me they can’t come see me as they have time specific clients all day?? Then when I needed visits at the same time for 7 days it never happened. It’s clear that what they tell clients and how they schedule is a big miscommunication. They can be inconsiderate as It doesn’t matter if it’s 9:00 at night and I’m going to bed then get a call and a nurse is coming in an hour. I don’t think that’s very considerate. Very unsatisfied with the service and would not recommend their services.

Bayshore’s handling of my mother’s home care has been devastating. My mother is dying and had PSWs who were trained with her for months, understood her needs, and provided consistent care. Without warning, Bayshore abruptly removed those PSWs and did not provide proper replacements or training for new staff. As a result, my mother’s care was disrupted at a critical and vulnerable time. New PSWs arrived unfamiliar with her needs, and in many cases, no one showed up at all. Phone calls and emails went unanswered, leaving me to step in repeatedly to provide care myself while trying to work and cope emotionally. The lack of communication, accountability, and compassion has been shocking. Families should never be left scrambling when a loved one is at end of life. This experience has caused immense stress, exhaustion, and emotional harm. I am also deeply concerned by how dismissive and unresponsive Bayshore has been to our situation. As a racialized family, it is hard not to question whether we are being treated differently, especially given the complete lack of urgency and follow-through despite repeated escalations. I would not recommend Bayshore to any family who needs reliable, compassionate, and responsive home care—especially for palliative patients. This level of negligence should not be happening in healthcare. Barbara Gamble-Debassige, the manager for Bayshore Niagara, should be removed from her position. She has demonstrated a consistent disregard for client needs. Trained PSWs are removed without notice, and false or misleading comments are added to client files to justify these removals. The level of internal politics and unnecessary drama is unacceptable—especially for families caring for a terminally ill patient. No caregiver should be subjected to this while already under immense emotional and physical stress. It is deeply concerning that Bayshore continues to employ individuals in leadership roles with no apparent accountability.

I am extremely disappointed with the services Bayshore provides to my mother-in-law. Our experience has been stressful, unethical, and deeply concerning. The PSW manager, Barbara Gamble Debassige, has repeatedly removed reliable and trained PSWs from my mother-in-law’s care without proper justification. Instead, we are sent untrained or unsuitable staff, which directly impacts the quality and safety of care for a vulnerable patient. When we raise concerns or advocate for better care, it feels like our family is treated as the problem rather than being supported. Based on our interactions, we have experienced behavior that appears discriminatory and unprofessional. The way decisions are made and communicated shows a lack of respect, transparency, and accountability. Critical patients should never be caught in internal politics or poor management practices. Families trust Bayshore with the care of their loved ones. That trust has been broken in our case. Management needs to be held accountable, and serious improvements are required in how clients are treated, how PSWs are assigned, and how concerns are addressed. I would strongly urge Bayshore leadership to review this situation and take corrective action before more families go through the same experience. Managers like Barbara should not be allowed to run care for vulnerable patients with such racist and discriminatory outlook on clients and their caregivers.

I am very upset at Bayshore they take more clients than they can handle. Hence leaving people not covered to fend on their own. Shameful!! Home care is at a very bad place. !! If you don’t want a institution looking after your loved ones, these companies are no help they are just a money grab. They government needs to invest in paid family caregivers.

PSW are great no problems with them at all but communication on the other hand is not so wonderful with staff handling calls on weekends....no communication with clients, especially if PSW does not show up or comes too early ...we have had a number of no shows in the last month which is terribly inconvenient for us as my husband is disabled and in a wheelchair... I need the help ...no one calls or there is no replacement available ....when I call to ask where they are no one seems to know and when I leave a message with reception for the coordinator on call to call me back they do return my call....very unprofessional and unreliable to say the least....this has caused us a huge amount of stress which is the opposite of what they stand for....
