Arkona Motel

It was not a pleasant experience. The beds were rock hard (with only one small pillow) and their rooms really outdated. The only good thing I have to say is the pool is awesome and surprisingly really well kept! They have a little playground set for young kids which is nice, but their rooms really need work. The paint in the bathroom and the bathroom door were atrocious. The shower didn't have a shower head, and was leaking.. And the top part of the bathroom wasn't even tiled; not even painted properly. At least the air conditioning worked. If you need a cheap place, for shower and sleep, it's below par, but it'll Do. We wanted to save money for niagara, and it was worth that part! Overall, not a good place!

I read a lot of reviews, and booked anyway. Quick, friendly check in. When I opened our room, I realized it was not a non smoking room, and went right back to the desk. I explained that I'm very sensitive to the smell of smoke. We were given another room, no fuss, no issue. This room was lovely. Clean, and the a/c was working very well. I see that people comment on the linens that don't match....if they are clean, who cares? I would stay again!

After check in, found pubic hair on the toilet seat and rim and feces in it! TV was broken and leaning against the back of the cabinet and one bed leg was broken and it was leaning! On my way to the lobby to complain, I was offered "Whatever I need" from a Drug Dealer who was sitting outside! I went and complained to the staff about the condition of the room, they wanted to show me a different room and came with us to see it. The toilet was broken and continuously running, the TV was MISSING along with one of the 2 drawers from the cabinet! One bed was unmade and the pillow case looked filthy. I told the staff, who was standing there seeing this, that this was also unacceptable. Went back to the lobby and said I would like a refund, she went to speak to the owner, he came out personally and said "We showed you 2 rooms, if you don't like it, don't stay", I tried explaining the problem and he interrupted me and repeated "If you don't like it, just get out" and Refused to listed to me or refund my money. We left and stayed at the Ramada down the road. This place is NOTHING like the pictures, the smell is terrible and the people are Rude. This was By Far the worst place I have ever seen. Don't be fooled, Stay Away!!

Very horrible experience. Toilet is not clean. When we entered the room, it's full of bad odour which not goes off even after the room spray. We hesitate to walk on the floor mat without shoes or Sandals. Room is full of flies. Not sure whether they really clean the room when someone vacates. Microwave was given but it's not working. We have tried to reach front desk but still they haven't arranged the alternative. This is the worst motel which I have seen in Canada. Since 1 is the minimum rating, I have given this otherwise it is qualified only for 0 rating.

Nothing really to be said as you get what you paid for. The size of the room is decent and the room itself is clean. Not sure how old the inn is but it still uses TV tubes although having free wifi access is quite surprising. The door key is very traditional and it stopped working when I was doing a last inspection after our stay and just before we checked out. The pool is also a good one as my kids enjoyed it even. There are things to be improved in the inn but it is sufficient enough if you are just planning to have a bed to sleep and washroom to use.
