Applewood Hollow is more than just a place. It is a heartbeat, a memory, a love story written in the quiet rustling of leaves and the stillness of the morning air. It is where the noise of the world fades, where love deepens, and where souls find rest. My wife Lisa and I have cherished this haven for decades. When we first discovered Jane and Brian’s oasis in Virgil some twenty years ago, we were not just a young couple in love. We were two hearts finding their rhythm, two lives merging into one. Here, amidst the embrace of nature, I fell further in love with Lisa. And in the quiet of this sanctuary, away from the demands of our fast-paced careers in television broadcasting, we found the time and space to nurture that love. Applewood Hollow became our retreat, our refuge. Year after year, we returned, seeking its peace, its stillness, its magic. It was here, in this sacred place, that I knelt before Lisa and asked her to be my forever. It was here, six months later, that we returned with hearts full of love, ready to create a new life. Our son, Niko, a child conceived in the warmth and serenity of the place that had given us so much. It is impossible to imagine this sanctuary - the very essence of tranquility - overwhelmed by the jarring sounds of paddles striking balls, of voices carrying across the stillness. Applewood Hollow is not just a location; it is a feeling, a sanctuary for the soul. To disrupt its delicate balance would be to erase something rare and irreplaceable. We are not opposed to sport; we appreciate its energy and joy. But not here. Not in a place that was never meant to echo with such noise. Some places are meant to remain untouched by the rush of the world, and Applewood Hollow is one of them. Please, we ask from the depths of our hearts, let this place remain what it was meant to be: a sanctuary of peace, of love, of quiet whispers and gentle breezes. Let it remain the place where love stories begin, where families reconnect, where time slows down just enough for people to remember what truly matters. Some things should never change. Applewood Hollow is one of them. With heartfelt sincerity, Paul & Lisa Papadopoulos

We love Applewood Hollow!! Highlights: listening to sound of the wind (and all the birds) on the back deck, in the stillness of the morning. The fireflies at night! Jane’s rhubarb cherry crumble and delicious breakfast (with great coffee). Jane and Brian’s warmth and hospitality. This place is a true gem and so are its hosts! Can’t wait to return.

Jane and Brian have cultivated a wonderfully peaceful experience from the grounds which are serene and lush, to the spacious and comfortable two story rooms with en-suite bathroom. The breakfasts were delicious, the dog was friendly and the chickens were busy, adorable little things. I would highly recommend staying here.

Superb, peaceful and beautiful place to stay! A wonderful place to rest and rejuvenate, sitting outside on the private deck drinking a cup of coffee and reading a book, sitting in the breakfast room knitting and visiting, walking down through the forest to the stream, taking a stroll through the beautiful garden and visiting the chickens, star gazing at night from the back deck. Amazing! Jane and Brian are really nice hosts and the breakfasts are outstanding. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful! We hope to see you again!

We stayed 2 nights in April 2024. The room was very clean and comfortable. It had access to a patio and backyard so we could enjoy the beautiful property. This is the perfect location to unwind and have a quiet weekend away from the city but still be close enough to run into NOTL, St Catherines and Niagara Falls if you want. Jane is an excellent chef, her breakfasts were spectacular, using locally sourced and in-season ingredients. Jane also has a wealth of knowledge about the area and it,s history that she is enthusiastic to share!
