Came here to try the intro workshop and it was so fun! Instructors were great and helpful. Even though it was challenging, I really enjoyed it and would go back again! Almost could have used an extra 30 mins to really get into it better but I'm happy to do another class in the future :)
View on GoogleI signed up for the 6-week class with Rob. I felt like there wasn't enough instruction time and we were often left to our own devices. For 2 of those 6 classes, we had a substitute teacher who basically babysat us instead of teaching anything. Rob and other teachers spent a lot of time gossiping and chatting with students or would be off in a different room during class. Rob is very discouraging of any fun or freedom in creating pottery and is very strict about things being done his way. He often criticized students for trying to find their own style or experimenting. He seemed to get a kick out of humiliating students for going too slow or having their hands in a certain position, for example. After the 6-week course I was hoping to just buy studio time to practice but this isn't an option! They make you go through the 6-week course AGAIN and you have to buy studio time on top of that ($375 + $80). In addition to this, the owner/teacher Chris was extremely rude and condescending on several occasions. She would constantly interrupt class to berate students like children. She raised her voice at me twice and impatiently grabbed my pots out of my hands to rush to get them in the kiln because she wanted to be done for the day. Extremely unpleasant person to deal with. This did not feel like a safe space.
View on GoogleI highly recommend visiting this studio if you’d like to learn about pottery. The 6 week course was wonderful, especially thanks to Rob the instructor. Rob was knowledgeable, kind, funny, and always answered my many questions. Chris was very accommodating and easy to correspond with over email which I really appreciated. I’m looking forward to taking more courses in the new year! I’m so happy with my results even with tons of room for improvement.
View on GoogleI did the 2 hour pottery workshop. The instruction during the workshop was not amazing as I felt my questions weren’t really answered that well but I had fun anyways. Picked up my pots today and one was glazed in the wrong colour. I mentioned this and they said they didn’t know what I wrote for the glaze colour. They have my email, I don’t know why they didn’t attempt to reach out and ask what I wrote. They gave me 2 options: refund my money and take the bowls I made back leaving me with nothing, or take home a mug made by someone in the studio. I did not like either option but I said I guess I’ll take the mug. “Wow.” Is the response I get. I apologized for being sad. They were mad that I was upset. They were so incredibly rude to me when I was visibly very disappointed. I was planning on taking the 6 week course but after this interaction I decided it wouldn’t be enjoyable anymore.
